Gordie Tapp, 'Hee Haw' Star, Dies at 94

Gordie Tapp, a Canadian entertainer and broadcaster best known for playing Cousin Clem on CBS variety show “Hee Haw” died Sunday. He was 94.

Along with a lengthy TV career, Tapp was also a member of the Order of Canada and a Canadian Country Music Hall of Fame inductee.

Born in London, Ontario, he was a founding cast member of radio/TV show “Main Street Jamboree,” and hosted the CBC music-variety program “Country Hoedown.”

Upon moving to the U.S., Tapp went on to perform and write for “Hee Haw,” where he became famous for beloved roles such as Cousin Clem, Samuel B. Sternwheeler, Mr. Gordon the storekeeper and Lavern Nagger.

Was he half of the duo that did that song on Hee Haw? I always remembered it as Grandpa Jones and Roy Clark. Was it Tapp and Jones? Tapp and Clark?

Wikipedia doesn't have a source for this, but it says Archie Campbell sang the verse and Gordie joined in on the chorus. Sometimes it would be a guest star instead of Gordie, or Gordie with a guest star.
