Online radio listening posts..

Good conditions tonight to the east coast & midwest. My first indicator is always WBBR and it was blasting in. Heard WBBM in the clear, WTIC, WINS & WCBS were pretty strong also. Would've liked to have tuned more, but there were others waiting to use the rcvr. Much more interest in it than there was years ago.

After a couple of weeks, I was able to get on last night, around 0700z. Toronto was dominate...two new logs to my personal Oldtimer logbook (1610 CHHA and 1690 CHTO). CFTR was also very strong, along with the two Greenland's on 570/650. Had a 1000 with EE, but it was littered with 999 khz splatter, probably WMVP anyways. Nothing west coast.

I noticed that Toronto was quite strong last night, many of them were in. I've been getting a lot of noise on 1000. Heard KOMO a few years ago, but not this year so far.

Oldtimer was somewhat auroral last night - 680 HJZO "Radio Nacional de Colombia," Reloj on 950/960, and UNID SSers on 1070/1380 (both very faint). 1070 might be Bogota.

Thanks for the report. I wonder if these 2 guys from Australia & New Zealand ever signoff on "oldtimer's" receiver? Any night I check in they're always listening.

Happy new year!
Last night around 0130z the band was very quiet on the Northern Ireland receiver. But 610 had definite Portuguese talk, // to Radio Itatiaia's stream. This is out of Belo Horizonte, Brazil! I also heard what sounded like Spanish or Portuguese religious music on 580.
Having a lot of luck on an Idaho WebSDR, a great receiver for NDB DX. In just 4 or 5 days of listening, I have heard over 120 NDBs, mainly from Canada. Last night had 375-FS from Fort Simpson, NWT! This is 280w at about 1230 miles. Also logged a 25w NDB on 380 khz (BBD Brady TX), 1319 miles! The farthest I have heard so far is DDP-391 from Puerto Rico, two NC NDBs (DIW-198 and CLB-216) and ML-392 Charlevoix, Quebec.

The trans Atlantic DX to North America has been terrible lately, but I guess South America is making it through.

Impressive conditions last night on the Northern Ireland node. NEW one at 0600z 1380-KLIZ Brainerd, MN w/ Fox Sports and TOH ID. Also heard KOMO 1000 w/ Seattle mention, WMVP-1000 "ESPNChicago.com", an SSer on 1280 (WADO?), and 780 WBBM. Many Ontario's as well.
Tonight Chris Dunne/FL has logged several Ontarios including CKOC-1150 from Northern Ireland. KBRW Barrow noted at 2200z.

Logged WNAM-1280 WI and WOOD-1300 MI 0200z from Northern Ireland. Great signal at TOH from 1280.

On January 14, conditions were very good. One of the NZ DXers had 1470 from Vancouver, BC tuned in with a pretty good signal at 0500-0600z. Conditions have definitely improved lately.

Just in the last half hour!
CFRY 920 MB w/ ID - NEW to log
1190 WOWO IN dominating w/ Mark Levin--NEW
1570 XERF // stream, huge NEW

Conditions are terrific on Oldtimer's node.

Oldtimer again tonight
780 YVMN "Radio Coro" Venezuela IDed with a good signal, all alone!
970 SSer mentioning Mexico briefly over WZAN ME (XERFR Mexico City?)
1330 has an SSer at the moment (0445z) but can't really ID it, lots of hash. Perhaps WWRV NY, or something in South America.
No Chicago, but noting normal Toronto's, NYC, etc.

Sometimes it pays to check in at odd hours. I heard KBRW Barrow, AK at 19:40Z on "oldtimers" node. Good signal. In for a good 15 minutes all alone when I was listening.

KBRW heard Sun 2100z as well, // stream! First Alaskan on the receiver so far.

Fantastic conditions tonight, with most frequencies dominating with stations. WGAN-560 is really dominate at times, all of the NYCs are in, WBBM also in. Just IDed 610-WIOD Miami 0230z full ID/traffic report. Lots of mixing on regional channels.
