Holiday (and some of January) Ratings.....

I see the Falcons have helped boost 92.9 the Game's ratings. Any chances Rock and All News will ever flip based on the current ratings? Rock just renewed Bailey and Southside for another 3 years.

Considering that they just re-upped their morning show, I guess not. Although they could tweak their music mix to make it more modern to distance themselves from River.

There are advertisers, like DUI lawyers, head shops, and nekkid bars, that really can't buy time anywhere else. I can't really see Kaedy Kiely talking about the Pink Pony or the Cheetah, or even Starship regardless of how many times she might have visited Windfaire back in the day. The Oasis has ads on 640, but it's literally all about their food.

What will be interesting is how 92.9 The Game holds its ratings after football season. It has taken long enough but this seems like it was a winning move for CBS.

B98.5 really didn't get hurt; their ratings were essentially flat and except for the Fish (for obvious reasons), their ranking didn't really change either.

What is going on at the Building of Death re: Bull and Power 96? And Patron keeps dwindling in the ratings (although I am guessing they still bill really well).

Looks like 106.7 has lost most of its election mojo. When a full class C gets beat and tied by two 250 watt translators, and a station on the same tower with less power has twice or three times the audience (not counting Christmas), one has to question how long can this insanity go on?

I think Power 96.1 needs some new sweepers (maybe even jingles) throughout the hour. The ones they play now have been around since the station's birth on Labor Day Weekend 2012.

As far their slogan, "Atlanta's #1 Hit Music Station", is that something they're allowed to keep no matter what for an extended period of time? I mean overall they've barely been in the top 15 Atlanta stations for the last several months.

Man as a Top40 radio geek and former NYC resident... (Ahh Z100), I was so excited about Power. Fresh sounding, tons of EDM mixshows on weekends (which I will still tune in for). I really want them to succeed. And they did. Hard to believe they were once near the top (next to V103) just last year. As well as #2 or #3 (18-49). Since PK and the new morning show took over, they may actually drop out of the Top 20 Atlanta stations. Plus lately, I flip over to Power, I'm still hearing Adele's "Send My Love... " Just yesterday I heard Taylor Swift's "Blank Space" and her older, country-crossover "You Belong With Me" in the same day. While over at Q100, their playlist is sounding hotter and, at times, slightly more rhythmic than Power! Lol My how the tables have turned.... (musically), between iHeart and Cumulus in Atlanta. :-/

At some point, the Federal Radio Station Slogan Regulation Board will step in and force them to stop calling themselves #1. But don't expect them to do it immediately. It took them several years before the FRSSRB banned the "New" 97.1 the River and 95.5 the Beat Atlanta's "New #1" for Hip-Hop.

You should file a complaint.

Power always plays a song from the last 10 years during the last song of the hour right before they announce the WWPW call letters. Outside of this they stay strictly on the current top 40 chart. Q100 tends to mix between the current chart and some recurrents. I hope it sticks around. If stations like Rock and All News can stay around at the current rating levels they are at then we have nothing to worry about with Power.

The problem, (musically) with Power is they will hardly play a song (outside of overnights), unless it reaches the Top 15. And once an hour they'll do their "#1 For New Music" and then proceed to play a song that has been active on Q100 for months! Lol

I guess a lot of my own frustration with all this comes from about 8 years ago where Q100 was the one that was reserved on playing new or more rhythmic songs. Once Power came out, (I thought)...problem solved! Clear Channel (iHeart) Top 40's were known to be a little more risky and played more rhythmic songs, remixes, etc. Now in 2017, it's completely backwards. Power will ALWAYS be jamming in my car on Fridays and Saturday nights because I happen to be a big fan of EDM. Their DJ's and club mixes are amazing!

Aside from music tho, I'd say 80 to 90% of Powers ratings slip is due to the new morning show. Scotty K, Bret and Riley catapulted the station's ratings higher than any other Atlanta CHR ever had back in 2015 and 2016. But, now...the ratings are down and...(coincidentally), Q100's new PD is making them sound hotter and fresher than ever. Plus, even I choose Bert over PK! So Power's falling ratings make perfect sense. But my only question is...are they listening?

I agree. IHeart has always been the risky more rhythmic one. Now they blip out all the words that might remotely offend someone."I Took a [bleep] in Ibeza." I mean come on, really? This isn't the Fish. Are we ever going to find out what ever really happened to Scotty K, Riley Couture, and Brett Mega? Seems like a bad move. There's a 24 hour EDM station on WALR HD2 called "the Surge." Sounds good. They do still play Pete Tong on Sunday nights on Power. I do still listen to Power more than I do Q but I must admit that Q is sounding much better lately. Power just needs to update their sweepers and jingles like Q did and make some tweaks to the morning show. Think about it...If one of the CHRs went away the surviving station would take all of the CHR ratings from the dead station and could possibly end up being the #1 rated station in Atlanta. For this reason, I don't think Power or Q will ever go away. I see an iHeart CHR in every top 20 market except Houston. I like having the choice between two CHRs. More options. It's nice.

We'll see Doogie. I hope Power continues to fight. I'm so used to this market flipping a station too quickily after falling ratings (except WYAY, of course). All this talk about iHeartAtlanta being the building of death, makes me wonder if I'm gonna wake up and 96.1 will be either straight up Urban, ESPN Deportes or smooth-jazz polka! (Hahaha) Or that we lose Power and Q ends up leaning Hot-AC again which is a stretch these days with Jan Jeffries gone, but I guess I've never forgiven Q for going Hot-AC back in 2009...(i.e. I don't trust them). Wow! That was close to 10 years ago. But, OCD can be a bitch. Lol (Staying positive)

Will def have to check out "The Surge" on WALR-HD2 (of all places). 'Evolution' by Pete Tong sounds great on Power. And just last night, my boy Andy Kovacs (Club961) was playing straight up breakbeat and trance. That stuff sounds incredible on megawatt analog FM signal too! Like vinyl, there's nothing like it, IMO. ;-)

POWER 96.1 has some hot ass mixshows!!! DJ Baby Drew does a good show and I don't know who the other mixers are but they sound great as well!!! It would be awesome if they'd add drive time and primetime weekday mixshows too. Outside of the weekend shows, Power has no energy! Sounds like your typical iHeart pop station in any city, USA. I wouldn't expect them to drop the "#1" liners anytime soon. The Urban stations use it faithfully as well.

V103 - "The ATL's #1 for Hip Hop and R&B"

HOT 107.9 - "Atlanta's #1 Hip Hop Station"

STREETZ 94.5 - "#1 In The Streetz"

96.7/92.3 The BEAT - "A-Towns Hip Hop and R&B" & "#1 for New Music"
