HD radio listings?

Hello to all. What is the run down of the hd radio dial in Tampa? I know 1010 whfs is on 99.5 hd 2 and I know that 97x is 102.5 hd 2 and the throwback station is 100.7 hd2 but other than that, I have no idea. I will have the hdr16 tomorrow so I can scan the dial myself. I think we should keep a running tab of the channel listing here. I can't find an up to date website. also is 620 wdae AM hd or not and if not are they available on an HD FM subchannel?

None of the AM stations are in HD.

I did test narrow-band FM on WQYK-AM. I also put C-QUAM stereo on the station when they were playing music. It worked very well ... sounded great.
CBS probably didn't want to spend the money on a station with such poor ratings (and with such a tight directional pattern).

Thanks for the posts. I bet I may be able to get 106.5 hd2 here with that sangean. 105.9 is out of the question because of the Tampa translator. It will be interesting to see what hd2 and hd3s I can get with a weaker signal here in Brandon. I don't hear any IBOC hash from either 970 or 620. I feel like they have had their HD off for like 3 years or so. A bit OT but I don't hear any IBOC hash in Orlando either.

I was under the impression that Glen Walden wanted ALL CBS stations, AM and FM, to be in IBOC. Maybe, as you point out, it was antenna related and he didn't have the budget to fix it.
I remember reading about the narrow band experiments. What did you learn from that? Would that be a viable technology for AM today?

Hello to all. Some quick hd radio observations. 88.5 does not have any hd running unless the hdr16 is not getting them for some reason. 89.7 is HD HD2 classical and HD3 bulls radio 90.5 is HD HD2 the light and HD3 Spanish. 91.1 no HD. 91.5 HD HD2 classic praise and HD3 light force. 92.5 actually came in HD here in Brandon and I even got the hd2. I know 93.3 is hd and hd2 may be evolution but not sure. 94.1 and 94.9 are mentioned here. 95.7 has up to hd3 but hd2 and hd3 are silent.... Iheart should look into that or cut them off.. 97.1 hd2 actually came in here in Brandon as well. Not sure on 98.7 but i think they do run HD. 99.5, 100.7 and so on are well documented here...

Austin, I picked my Sangean HDR16 around 5:30 this afternoon, as soon as I could get it in my car and put the four "C" cell batteries in, I tested it in my car with the HDR's antenna only partially extended and I was getting WMNF 88.5 HD1 - HD3, but now several hours later in the house with the antenna fully extended, I am not getting HD on WMNF, so I suspect they're having a problem. WSRZ 107.9 licensened to Sarasota was almost coming in HD but never quite made it, but I was surprised given that, that I was not getting HD on WSMR 89.1, tomorrow on a trip to Naples I will pull off the road somewhere in the Nokomis area to test 89.1.

On the AM band, when I put through the HD scan, it was stopping at 620-WDAE before 6:15pm(local sunset for February for the area) but afterwards, the AM HD scan just kept scanning over and over the frequencies without ever stopping. So I'm thinking 620 may still be HD during the day and if so, it's the only HD in the area.

I've also learned that the manual has several errors; one being that apparently the clock cannot be put in the 24 hour mode; at least not using the manual's instructions; the same with the alleged CT feature to have the clock set automatically if set to certain stations; I had to set the clock manually and in the 12 hour mode.

Tampa/Sarasota HD

None of the AM station in the market are running HD any more. They have all been turned off. While FM HD works very well, AM is a bust. 89.1 is not running HD, never has. 88.5's HD Importer has failed, so their HD is off for now. Most FM stations in the market are now running -14dbc power (4% of analog). 97X received FCC permission to run -10dbc power (10% of analog). When HD originally went on the air in 2005. the then allowed -20dbc power (1% of analog) was just not enough power. -14dbc and higher works very well and in some cases out reaches the FM.

What does WYNF do with their HD2,3 and 4? It seems to be one of the few community radio stations running HD but they are also one of the least problem plagued community stations. I have never listened but I'm guessing it is much more music intensive and a little less extreme, politically, than some in other cities.

I don't see the hate for HD radio now. They have improved the sound quality. The HD2 and HD3 kinda remind me of satellite radio audio quality but it is duable. Yes I'd say that HD outreaches the FM. Like i can consistently get both 97.1 HD2 and 92.5 HD2 here in Brandon on the hdr16. I was not sure how well those would come in here.

Evidently, HD AM had more opponents than supporters and I think with the buzzsaw type of interference to nearby frequencies did not help....... at any rate I was hoping to hear AM HD and decide for myself, but I guess I'm a day late and a $ short. :(. One thing I have discovered is that when scanning for HD on the AM band, there are some false HD stops when scanning, since when scanning the radio stopped at 620 and no other frequency, when in SP.

On a trip to Naples on Saturday, I did a scan near the Charlotte/Sarasota county line and then the HD scan kept stopping on 1650- the DOT low power traffic station! So obviously can't go by the scan, unless you see the HD logo on the screen. (This was not clear in the radio's user's manual.)

More stations that I thought in the Naples/Fort Myers area were in HD than I would have thought; most with HD2's and some with HD3's.

Since this is yet another thread on HDx, I wish that the Riverview HDx's were made better use of. I understand the idea of placing 970 on a stick in Holiday, the North coverage has always been an earsore, but it completely ignores the Eastern portion of the Market.
More and more cars are coming with HD as standard equipment. Just check out the Caddys.
Oh, I forgot. They need to alienate we S.O.B.s (South Of Bay) people...

I was wrong on 91.5 hd2. It is just praise not classic praise... I was surprised WDAE was not on one of 95.7's HD channels. How long have those hds been silent?

Its an Englewood license, but the Tower is in Venice, its a directional to protect WOCL (i think) Orlando, W290BJ also IHR is rebroadcasting another HD2, quite confusing. When 970 was on W290BJ the Sarasota office got calls going WTF?!?!?! it was funny.
