WTMP AM And FM Sold

I haven't listened in a long time. Does WTMP-AM still serve the black community well? Or is it just a classic hip hop jukebox?

Do you mind copying and pasting what the article says?
.

Copy and paste is not "fair use" and would be illegal.

The essence is that the stations are being sold out of receivership. The article does not say if the land where all the AM towers are located is included in the deal, something that would be a key in determining the value of the stations.

Thanks David. I am aware of fair use. Hardly anyone reads these boards, so I doubt it would be a cause for alarm.

I know about the entire sale and everything that comes with it, just wanted to see what that article's insight was on it.

RBR is owned by the same folks that own this board. I think they would nuke a violation like that almost instantly-

Neal Ardman's NIA Broadcasting is paying 500k for the pair. His group has a station in Fernindana Beach, 7 stations in Georgia, and one TV station in Troy, AL. Scott Savage is the receiver who's selling them, and his own firm served as broken on the deal.

I wonder if there will be any format changes? Just curious. I tuned in 1150 this morning and there was dead air when the prd16 scanned over it.

I would do a AM/FM simulcast and file for a translator in the 2017 window (if there is dial availability). Also take two towers down, and downgrade to a class D. (Once again, if possible).

I would assume the new operators have looked at the translator possibility.

I know one operator that has rolled the dice and purchased an AM for 5k in a small market, and who is waiting for the window to open.

The possibility to get a decent translator in the Tampa market came and went in the last 2 windows of AM Revitalization.

The upcoming 2017 window will allow those to apply who could not afford or secure one if spectrum is available.

Correct, but in this market there may be 1-2 left tops, and 5-6 other stations which didn't apply in the first two windows.

And the spectrum that's left is mainly scraps. Highly directionalized patterns on high interference channels.

Looking at the dial around Tampa Bay and the translators currently on the air.... there's not really any dial position left in the centralized metro area.
