105.3/1230 Vibe

Looks like iHeart launched Vibe 105.3 today. Heard R&B music that appeared to include "Premium Choice" voicetracking during the 4pm hour. TOH ID'ed WYTS and W287CP. I decided to flip over to AM 1230 - Was weird hearing music back on that frequency again.

How long has it been?

They were running talk shows when I lived in Cbus in '93.

It briefly was music as "Real Oldies 1230" between 2003-2004 but prior to that it had been talk going back to when Nationwide launched talk as 1230 FYI. It's also flipped between talk/sports at least once that I can remember.

I remember they simulcasted the "Cool 92" oldies format (aka "Continuous Oldies 92.3") during the early 90s, from about 1990-1994. I also remember "Talk 1230 the Zone" around 2001-03 or so. They've been a Reds affiliate for about 10 years, and I wonder if that will continue under this new format.

WYTS is still listed as an affiliate, so it looks like they will carry their games. I bet only night games tho?

They've carried all games in recent years.
There would be worse things than the Reds not having an affiliate in Columbus proper, keeping in mind WLW's signal here and the presence of WQTT out of Marysville that gets out pretty well in the western parts of the market. I do think that it'd be a bad look if the largest city in their territory did not have an affiliate, however.

Well I guess the folks are iHeart realized that WCVO "The River" has had an HD-2 running a Christian Hip-hop format called "The Vibe HD" for awhile now... They have decided to re-brand 105.3 as "Kiss 105.3" now.
