Kvpi fm power increase

I went to Ville Platte (home town) a month ago and it didn't seem like the power had increased. The 6kw gave a listenable signal from the I-10/US 165 interchange (like it always has) all the way to Ville Platte through Kinder but I'm not sure if the 25kw would make much difference in that area since it is butting up against KCOL. I passed by the tower to look and it looked the same as it has for years. Would they even have to change antennas to go to 25kw?

I passed their tower/antenna back in 2013 when I was visiting good old Fort Polk where I was stationed in the 70's. They had a nice three bay antenna for the 6kw. If you still saw the three bay they probably are still at 6kw. I would imagine they would need a heavier four or five bay to support 25kw. Wouldn't 25kw make them receivable in the Fort Polk DeRidder Leesville areas, the database has them same height and location, just the power increase permit. I did receive the AM signal during the day at Polk around 1971.

The power is ERP, TX power x antenna gain...if the 3 bay is say 3 db, then the TX is 3 KW out.....25kw ERP would use ~12.5KW TX which a 3 bay would likely support....

The 60dbU coverage for the 25 KW ERP would be (zoom in after the map loads):
https://www.fcc.gov/media/radio/map...E_PLATTE&state=LA&fileno=BPH-20140819ABL&.map

IIRC....Line efficiency is a factor in determining ERP: TX power X Antenna gain X Line efficiency
Granted, in MOST cases, LE is negligible....one FM I worked for back in the '70s had a LE of 97% (16 KW X 2.6 X .97 = 41.903)....Station was listed @ 42 KW ERP....
Or....am I nit-picking???!!!

Not picky at all...the FCC engineering portion of the application clearly has a place for the LE, and it must be a part of the final ERP calculation, or the application will not be acceptable to their program. Thanks...
