Buddy Shula buys WECK

Buddy seems a bit thin skinned. Working at WBEN and listening to
Trump lunatics obviously leaves mental scars.

On page 2 of this thread, he said he plans to acquire other
Radio properties. Is Entercom possibly unloading one or more
of their AM stations? Yes, this is speculation.
We do know that the CBS-Entercom merge is creating changes.
Those ripples are just beginning.

Why does Buddy need input and adulation from posters here?
It's very bizarre Trump like behaviour...

Talk about mental scars...your posts are like Taylor Swift songs about ex boyfriends, the same thing over and over. How about contributing something worthwhile instead of the same ol' garbage?

Most of these posters have nothing better to do than comment about radio, especially with negative stuff being hurled at each other....they need to get a life, do something positive for mankind (like volunteer), maybe even get a job! I've never seen more worthless gargle than I have on this site. Leave Buddy alone...he could run circles around most of you trolls!

"Most of these posters have nothing better to do than comment about _____"

True of any and all forums in the vast space called the internet.

And be real: It doesn't take a lot of time to read and respond.

Buddy I don't know you but I just want to wish you the best of luck. Many have dreamed about owning their own radio station. You will be living that dream. Go for it!!

Don't even bother. He's not reading anymore.

Tbolt ruined the radio board for everyone.

Yeah, Tbolt spoiled the Buddy Tea Party.
I'm sure he'll still be reading this forum for fan mail.

I wish Buddy success on his next venture.
However, I reserve the right to disagree with him about
what he considers "quality content"...

Then why did you join the site? Are you a masochist?

Look, I graduated college with a degree in broadcasting. I still like radio despite its flaws, and I have ZERO problem talking about it on a board like this.

Look, I graduated college with a degree in broadcasting.

That brings up a sidebar subject, which is the benefits of a college degree in broadcasting.

The multi-station company I most enjoyed working for was owned by a person who adamantly stated "I will not hire college broadcasting graduates. They know nothing and think they know everything."

Price has been brought up a few times....let me tell you... I got a steal! You do not know half of what is in the price I paid.

In deference to both parties, it usually goes something like, "The sale price was fair and mutually beneficial to seller and buyer."

Why am I not surprised. It's a stupid, degrading and arrogant thing to say. A gross generalization, reminiscent of "Mexicans are..."

No. To him it was realistic as in his experience he never had a successful hire of a graduate of a university broadcast school. And he definitely knew the difference between success and the absence of it.

I almost took that college route, but abstained in favor of business and psychology/sociology courses. I took one broadcast class, called "Broadcast Management". I didn't get an "A" final grade based on the poor grade I got for a case study that involved rescuing a failing station. In a FedEx like deja vu situation, I went on, 6 months later, to implement my plan at a truly failing AM and FM in market 15, where each station shortly became #1 in their band. That does not make me a true believer, either.

Puerto Rico?

If Buddy got the real estate as well as assets with no assumption of liabilities, then he appears to have gotten a very nice deal. But the field of buyers is limited for that kind of facility, so Buddy was uniquely qualified to come in as a viable owner/operator.

Buddy - seriously, I know YOU WILL revisit this board. Even this part of the radio experience is pretty amazing and in our blood. I have yet to see many similar boards about other businesses. Stick with us. I appreciate you even remotely commenting on this after YOUR radio station was brought up. To be fair and honest, I sometimes get miffed at the argumentative nature of this board, even a few times (less than five) from those that I respect (like BigA and David) because sometimes (<1%) what they HEAR or RESEARCH is not always correct to the truths that I SEE on a daily basis. I can be thin skinned, too especially when trying to maintain a distance on here when it hits close to home. If I challenge them on here, then, I know without a doubt that my facts are in black and white and spot on from where I stand. Often, I just chalk it up to a general way the industry assumes things are going and know that not every station has to fit that assumption or business formula and we agree to disagree or I see their point. But, 99% of the time, I enjoy reading and learning from their take on their experiences and am thankful they are still on this board after about 100,000 posts. They work literally 24/7 and I cannot imagine what this board would be with out them.

A couple of others on this specific discussion need to chill and re-read their comments. But, they probably won't. The comments on this post are indeed some of the least considerate comments that I have seen. Come on. Imagine yourself in Buddy's excited shoes. Let HIM have a few minutes of bliss without castrating him, PLEASE.

What matters to me is you wake up each day and work harder than everyone else (I sleep four hours a night anyway); treat people like you want to be treated and smile and/or cut up all ya can and never stop trying to find your way through the maze. My biggest successes have come literally right before I wanted to just give up.

Everyone has an opinion of what you should do with YOUR station. Some advice is certainly helpful. But, YOU have to work your plan with a team that will implement your vision. You let everyone have a vision and work their plan and you can't get out of the gate. You have a master plan in your heart and head sir. Your dreams at night, even with not much sleep, are the proper blueprint to building your successful station. The team will be there with you. The turkey's will be on the sidelines with "all" the answers snapping at YOU because they have nothing anyone gives a damn to critique. Go kick some old fashion radio butt!

Absolutely! I can still remember how I felt the day I got the license for my first radio station, and for a radio person, even as young as I was, it was a feeling like no other.

It never gets old, does it David. I do! Hope you are excellent, my friend. OH, btw. Bravo on Puerto Rico. FTR - David did some amazing things despite all odds there. Glad someone pointed PR out above. :)
