Adjacent Interference On 97.3 FM in Charlotte NC

Tonight, I noticed what appeared to be some serious adjacent interference with the Transmission from 97.3 FM in Boone/Wilkesboro, NC into the Charlotte NC area. The Signal Seemed very strong. I found a Radio Station on 97.5 MHz now transmitting. It calls itself "ESPN-RADIO" and transmits Sports-Related Info. Whoopeee. I could actually care less about Sports Info now interfering with my Music Radio Stations. At this point, I think I am just about done with FM Radio entirely. Period.

Steve.

Probably yet another low power FM translator interfering with the clear signal of a full power distant station. Very annoying. Here in Greenville, SC most of the Charlotte stations now suffer adjacent channel or same channel interference in the car. Only on my home receiver can I still receive a clear signal and some of the HD stations. My main complaint is a LPFM on the same 107.9 frequency as WLNK, which used to be strong and clear. Now very bad mutual interference with the LPFM station and WLNK, which is a problem for both stations. Bad decision by the FCC as what looked good on paper by some distant DC bureaucrat is actually a real world problem, as the legal spacing is misguided here. WLNK has a very strong fringe signal even in the Grade B contour. Fortunately my home receiver gets WLNK strong and clear, including the HD which has WBT and WFNZ. But unfortunately the signal now deteriorates in the car, but the HD sometimes still locks in. But yes now a very frustrating mess on the FM dial.

I would have said they should move all TV stations off Channel 6 and use the frequencies in that band for translators, but I guess that wouldn't work any better than HD radio, seeing as how everyone would have to get a new radio for that to work, and few people would.
