WFXT to drop FOX 25 News brand

They say they got angry emails and calls from viewers who felt they were too far to the right (they claim they're not) and thought people were confusing them with Fox News Channel. So they want to hide the Fox part but will still carry
Fox network shows.

Cox now owns them; Fox traded them to Cox as part of a swap to have an O&O in San Fran

News ratings are suffering. High profile talent deserted them. They didn't improve. Now in an area that leans left they may figure they can try to get viewers who don't want right wing bias and they felt the connection to Fox was giving people
the wrong idea.

Also, though there is common ownership, Fox News on cable is not directly connected with the over the air Fox Network. Using "Fox News" on a Cox-produced newscast really implies a direct association with the wrong network.

Wait when Cox owned KTVU Fox 2, The newscasts were then labeled "KTVU 2 News" prior to becoming a Fox O&O.

KTVU under Cox Ownership used the Fox2 brand only for primetime shows and sports from Fox Broadcasting company. As far as I know Fox O&O's do not have the pro-Trump and anti-DNC bias that the Fox News Channel has. Fox O&O's tend to be in NFC markets. I seen KTVU Fox 2 News in San Francisco and the KTTV Fox 11 News in Los Angeles the Fox O&O's newscasts in California are more saner and more stable than Fox News Channel.

But the rumor of Fox O&O's having a political bias or being required to be like Fox News Channel have its origins after the Mike Jerrick rant from Fox 29 Philadelphia.

This might be a little weird, but I imagine that if WFXT wants to take it up a notch, it could give it's FOX affiliation to WHDH (when WFXT's contract with FOX ends), which would even up WHDH with the same affiliation as it's sister station down in Miami (WSVN-TV), as WSVN also gave up NBC in 1989 for FOX, but unlike Boston WSVN got Fox immediately after WCIX (now WFOR on Channel 4) switched to CBS.
