I have been listening to WRFF more and more and it seems the jocks are live and local. Plus the traffic and weather reports are a great bonus, remember the days of AM top 40, when you heard the time, temp and forecast every 10 minutes, that has been missing from FM radio for ages. But to the original question, are the jocks live, if not, they sure sound like it. WRFF does sound like a great alternative station to me, I also enjoy some of the throw back cuts, nothing else from the DC to Boston corridor sound like it. How would it do in the apple. I know it was tried in Baltimore as Radio 104 but with no success due to the fact they were throwing hard rock in the mix.

Mike Jones is voicetracked from DC101 in Washington, and I can't vouch for weekends. But the rest of the weekdays (Johnny, Amber, Jessie) are in studio. They may track portions here and there for meetings, but they're in studio otherwise.
Not bad, especially the way radio is voice tracked from all over the place, nowadays. At one time, weren't they mostly voice tracked except for johnny and and the afternoon female who left recently.
When they first signed on, it was just Johnny and Wendy, and they each did I believe 8 hour shifts. (6-2 and 2-10 maybe?). Over the years, they've added talent and shortened the shifts. When they were doing the 8 hour shifts, I'd assume some was voicetracked, but both of them were based in Philly.
With the software that is available today, are studios even necessary for a program?
True. Several SiriusXM jocks work from home and sound just fine. Meg Griffin (Deep Tracks, The Loft) does her shows from the Boston area and Pat St. John ('60s on 6) and Jim Ladd (Deep Tracks) are in California.
