WRKO.org

Sadly, the Big 68 memory site is gone. http://wrko.org/

the domains are for sale from the owner if you have a "substantial offer" or in other words a money grab.

OK he lost interest, I get it, but I'm sure someone would have taken the contents and paid the server costs.

Does the name Sheldon Swartz ring a bell to anyone?

cached page;
Yours truly, Sheldon Swartz, am a freelance broadcast historian. This, my site, is dedicated to the archiving and preservation of information in both audio aircheck and documentation of legendary Radio stations. I are NOT affiliated in any way with any Radio or TV stations.

Since 1998, I've been faithfully serving the online community of Top 40 and other Radio fans. Today, wrko.org offers more than 1,000 pages of intriguing information, airchecks, hard-to-find insiders information, and dozens and dozens of airchecks in high-quality, optimized, RealAudio format, smoothly streamed directly to your RealAudio player.

New airchecks, jingles, photos, and other information are added when received. As I do not have any personal income with which to maintain or update this site, please donate from your heart. Just press the "donate" on the main menu, under "Site Info / Help." Donating is simple, via PayPal, and you do NOT need a PayPal account through which to donate via check or any major credit card

I offer you the most accurate information available, including hundreds of photos from private sources, thousands of color photos of Top 40 Radio station surveys, and a site (surveys.wrko.org) listing every record known to have been played on WRKO-AM and FM, as well as a photo of every survey I have; front, back, inside and out, so you can find out when your favorite music was on the air!

Shel was quite active online....and then just seem to disappear. (I remember him from the old days at Prodigy, Compuserv, etc.)

I tried to find out whats up with him...with no luck. I know he had a wife that was ill and required his full-time attention.

For someone so active online, it's hard to believe he is totally off-line.

the Whois info has him in a southern state known for Oranges and alligators, and lists contact info .....

If you wanted to look it up and give him a call

His wife died maybe seven or eight years ago. IIRC she had a disease somewhat similar to ALS.

He had been posting on WRKo_Org for quite a long time that he had no income and was looking for donations to maintain the domain name registration and the site contents.

when someone finds out what he wants for the domain name and the contents let the group know we can all pitch in some cash and keep it alive for a while longer, or find a group willing to take the contents and place them on their server.

If someone can get the contents, I can host on my server and whoever owns the domain can redirect to the page.
