WHIN is "The New 100.7 WHIN"

New branding, new format. Seems like pop and rock hits. Someone is live at this moment with guests.

It is skewed to a much younger demo than it had in the past. I'm hearing stuff from late 70s to modern pop.

The AM is sounding nice. They do have an app to change the directional of the translator.

You may have caught the flipping of the new format/ownership "switch" with the Mayor of Gallatin. That is the new format, complete with the good ole Tookie Bird. As for the signal, a new AM transmitter and some major re-tweaking are in the process and the FM signal is also in the process of being upgraded and should have a nice little signal toward Nashville. Pretty major change for a station that saw few changes for decades.

After hearing Andy Grammer, Bruce Springsteen, and Carly Rae Jepsen in the same set, "The New WHIN" sounds like an update of Y107, playing past and present hits.

It's basically Gallatin's version of Hartsville's "Fun Radio".

I only just missed it by a few minutes. I just happened to come across while scanning the band and noticing music I wasn't accustomed to hearing on that part of the band.

Their Facebook page says the translator is going off at Noon today to upgrade it.

They did change the antenna (or as someone there put it, more coat hangers). The signal clashes with WKLX, which is the dominant signal on that channel in Macon County's Highland Rim region. I can hear it in Lafayette, but I have to be at just the right spot. Both of them are so weak here, none of them light up the signal meter on my car radio. Before, I could only hear WKLX in northern Sumner County.

I read reports where the FM can be heard in Nashville.

I think they tweaked it so it would ping downtown Nashville, but it didn't change anything in Lebanon, cause I can still hear it loud and clear.

The directional was at 100% at 150º, which is approximately toward the direction of Lebanon. The change reduced the signal in that direction, but not that you would notice. At that direction, it is a difference of 9 watts.

Since they are billing the station as Sumner County's #1 Hit Music Station, I'd think they would at least cover the two population centers in the county. It can better serve Hendersonville with the directional antenna change. Currently, the antenna is putting all of the 250 watts toward Mt Juliet and a little less on either side. Seems to work out pretty well.

If you caught the signal on Saturday, you may have noticed a return on the old coverage/old transmitter, which returns the signal coverage back into Nashville (and even better than previously.) A little more work needs to be done to perfect things on the Hendersonville side. Kc4rae has it pretty spot on, but it's not quite 250 watts, yet.
