Bauerle warns the President: "Watch your back".

The thing is the president is more likely to believe him than anyone in the CIA or FBI. This guy speaks his language.

Winner! Ding, ding ding!

Hey, say what you will, the guy knows how to get pub.

Then anybody knows how to get pub.

It's not complicated: You're in the media. You act bats**t crazy. Rest of media reports on it. Anyone can do it, it's just that most have some semblance of dignity and integrity.

Like with Trump: Most people know how to appeal to his base. It's not a complicated formula. It's just that few are willing to fire up racist neanderthals and xenophobes and divide the country just to get elected.

I was out-n-about over the weekend and crossed paths with an acquaintance who happens to think Dick Bauerle's brother, Tom, is awesome. This person said that Tom continues to assert that he (or his neighborhood?) is the subject/target of those invisible spies. I laughed it off, gave the person the brush-off, and continued enjoying my chicken parm dinner.

WTH?!?!?!?!!!!! How does this whole thing tie in with him and WBEN... a ratings thing, possibly? I've not listened to him in years (and my mornings are better for it! lol). Does he use this as a talk-show trigger to get attention? I don't get it.

Sad if he is doing it for publicity and dangerous too. The Buffalo News article makes him look like a nut case and makes WBEN look totally irresponsible. You'd think Entercom would have gained a few more scruples after the whole "Hold your wee for a Wii" contest that ended so badly in California and cost them a station license.

No one has died as a result of the stupidity or ego of a talk show host.
Possibly. Consider, though, the potential peril that Bauerle's comments are creating. Making statements that are intended - and can only be intended - to cause people to think that something is occurring - that is (at this point) unlikely and unproven. That is indeed irresponsible.

Say, for instance, Bauerle's long-standing, consistent, insistent, and allegedly corroborated comments bring a neighbor to believe that illegal acts are occurring in the area. The good intentioned neighbor sees an individual "crouching" by a backyard tree with a laptop/tablet/control panel and - because of Bauerle's comments - considers this individual a potential "spy." Neighbor has heard the pleas of "if you see something, say something." Neighbor calls police for 'situation in progress' attention. Police crash and die responding. A bit far-fetched. I'm not so sure. Oh, by the way, the tree climber?... a National Grid contractor.

I agree. All of talk radio promoted the concept that there was an alien invasion taking place in the days before the election. They made it sound like terrorists were just a few miles away from downtown Buffalo, ready to rampage through the streets. That claim was a lie. It was unproven and unlikely. Yet they all said it. It was as though it was an organized lie. But that's what talk radio today is. A few years ago, the station promoted a gun show. Since then people have been killed with guns, some bought at shows like that. Should the station be responsible? I don't know. File a complaint with the FCC and see what they say. My guess is if you don't have a direct cause and effect example, they will claim first amendment.

Oh for Heaven's sake. Way to hijack this thread with the same old tired straw man discussion about the non-existent 'gun show loophole'. Except that loophole only exists in the minds of politicians who are trolling for donations or votes and even they know better in most cases. A legal merchant does a full background check whether the purchase is being made at a gun show or a store. And for argument's sake, the latest mass murderers passed the background check and bought the weapons legally.
