KOOL 990/96.1 WNTY shows up in the ratings

I can barely pick them up in Newington anymore.

Getting the same signal from them on the Berlin/Newington town line. Let's see how they do later when I'm in New Britain.

Signal is better in Wallingford, worse in New Britain. Looks like those WTIC-FM listeners (or were they paid management sock puppets?) who complained to the FCC have accomplished their aim of driving 96.1 out of its most populous coverage area.

I have tried listening to this station this week but its hard as things about it annoy me so much.

1) Michael Maze keeps saying he is Live and its just a few minutes past 5 (or 6 or whenever) when the time is 4:56, which tells me he is lying and is not live especially when he says the time and its before the time he says...

2) The morning guy tried, but needs some polish as he often talks over the vocals when trying to introduce a song.

3) I can not listen to this station driving from my house in Newington to my office in Hartford. When driving Northbound in the Berlin Turnpike I lose the WNTY signal and instead pull in WSRS FM from Worchester, Mass in full HD!

I have tried on weekends to tune in and listen to Rich Apell, but can't get the signal good from my house, so I end up listening to his show instead online at FunTowerRadio.COM.

How much work would it be to change frequency? The new pattern helps a little south but still not really listenable because of WJVC.

All 3 DJs say "Live from the Solid Gold Studios." Lisa Sinclair (The 10-12/1-3 DJ is in Los Angeles.

Wolfman Jack is a definite tune-out for me. That voice gets on my nerves. I do like AT 40 with Casey Kasem on Saturday mornings.

Another annoying thing is the wonky automation system. Sometimes the "top of the hour" news, weather, and legal ID plays as early as :37 past the hour. (Then there was that 3 week period when their automation system was an hour slow).

And what the heck happened to WACM 1270? They used to boom in down here. For the past 6-8 weeks I haven't been able to pick them up - whether I'm using my Walkman or the radio in my Mom's 2010 Honda Civic.

Looking at the latest PPM's and I see WNTY in the ratings. Actually it's the second month in a row. They went up .3 from January.

Nielsen Audio Ratings

Too bad there's no way to see how many are listening on 96.1 vs. 990
I am actually surprised that the FCC granted KOOL Radio 96.1 that frequency because here in Vernon-Tolland area it overlaps with WSRS 96.1. The irony of this is that most of KOOL Radio's low power is east of its transmitter

No surprise, no irony. Lets look at FACTS

There is no overlap .
The 50DBU for WSRS ends in Windsor Locks
The 50dbu for W241CG ends on a line from Collinsville headed SE towards Middletown.
Thats what the FCC looks at, not what radio geeks/fans/nerds/DXers can hear.
A 50dbu is a signal that will be lost on most crappy home radios, audible only on home radios that are better with bigger antennas and still kinda useable in cars

And the signal is directional in part to protect other things.. so thats why "most of Kool Radios low power is east of its transmitter"... assuming you meant the signal goes farther east....

Or..

"east of its transmitter"....And theres no irony in 96.1s location. The translator can be anywhere within a certain distance form the originating transmitter and you want more height with FM.. so its higher up and thats east of the AM transmitter site.
