Laura Daniels OUT at Mix 96

If the rumors are true that Lew Dickey is interested in Townsquare with his new wad of cash from investors, then this could be the beginning of cost cutting for those guys. Oaktree has owned them for about six years. They're probably looking to get out so they can invest in properties with more potential for growth. Dickey had a lot more success in small markets than he did in bigger markets. He may be looking to return to his roots.

Buffalo's one of Townsquare's bigger properties, so it's probably seen as having a bigger pile of money to trim from. The Mix has underperformed. Mornings probably seemed like a good place to start.

Haven't they been rather stingy for some time? Didn't they cut the mid-day guy at WYRK a couple years ago for no apparent reason? Didn't they replace the local 7-mid show at WYRK with their own syndicated nightly show as an effort to cut expenses at their top-rated station?

After offering several theories, I think you've come upon the real reason.
