I read on another message board that two small AM stations have gone off the air. WKMB 1070 a daytimer in Stirling had their license canceled by the FCC because they couldn't pay their FCC debts. They were a Country station until '03 and have been running religious programming since them. The other is WGHT 1500 a daytimer in Pompton Lakes. The owner is retiring and the station will go silent in August. Wikipedia says the GM of WGHT hopes to donate the license.

WKMB returns
WKMB, 1070 khz. in Stirling, NJ has returned to the air after working out a payment plan with the FCC. Correspondence indicates that their mailing address had changed when they moved to a new studio address (both of which were located in Plainfield, NJ). FCC communications sent by US Mail had never reached them at their new address. The station and the Commission are now current with addresses and WKMB has returned to the air as before, 250 watts daytime, non-directional from a transmitter location in Gillette, New Jersey.

Seems WGHT has been spared too, should hang in there to get an FM translator.
WKMB has been off the air again for at least a week now. The FCC hasn't yanked their license and the station hasn't filed anything yet, so I don't know what's going on this time.

WKMB returns to the air
As of today, 9 January 2018, WKMB has returned to the air at 1070 khz. Their signal coming from Gillette, NJ is good here in North Plainfield and presumably throughout the region.

I also noticed that WKMB is back on the air today, however, I only heard a blank carrier -- no audio.
I tuned in again just after 2 PM and WKMB had resumed their normal gospel music programming, with good audio quality.
Audio is horrible and there's no Id's just constant gospel music, plus they don't sign off at night. All illegal but they get away with it because the FCC doesn't want trouble with them.
