Mix 96.1 changes it's name

Ehhh...no difference in the playlist or staff. Yawn.

Apart from that, this is probably an example of a brand "suicide", because apart from the Spanish station, KBBT, Mix 96.1 was the #1 Pop Station in San Antonio. Nice going, iHeart...

I could be wrong but I believe 94.1 and 96.1 were much closer in their target demos of 18-34.

Nonetheless, it would be great if Alpha flipped 95.7 to a 90's and Now format as Mix 95.7 or Mix 96.

I think 95.7 is Regional Mexican. Like 104.1. Why would they have two Mexican stations so close with almost the same format?

95.7 is Regional Mexican (a very poor name developed by non-Hispanics in the record retail business), mostly Banda with some crossover norteña. It is current based, with high rotations on hits. 104.1 is all Norteña gold with practically no currents and very slow rotations... big songs play once a day. Two separate, and very minimally overlapping formats; they are as different as R&B and CHR with a few crossovers but very different audiences.

95.7 is mostly an Atascosa County signal. The 70 dbu barely touches Bexar County, and the 60 dbu does not reach downtown.

It's not a good general market signal. It is OK for the southside Hispanic community and some of the rest of the market.
