KXTN

Is the Tejano format showing sign of cooling down in SA? Latest 6+ PPM's have been showing a southward trend. Someone please confirm.

Just keep in mind that in 1992, there were over 11 Tejano shares in San Antonio. That's the year after KXTN debuted on FM... 25 years ago!

If I remember correctly, most of the recent sellable numbers KXTN used to generate were from the mostly talk morning shows it has had. As it's changed morning shows a couple times since then, I wouldn't be surprised if it has continued to decline.

On another note, 95.1 appears to be winning Spanish Chr battle. The mix of English and Spanish is a no brainer in this market. Also, the young sounding voiceover is much more appealing compared to 104.5.

How's G 103-3?

Since January it has wobbled between 1.1 and 1.8 in 18-49. Low share stations typically wobble a lot, but this one is all over the place- This is a product of a limited signal and a low sample in SAT:

KXTN should re-define itself by just staying gold-based. There has been no galvanized traction in new Tejano music lately and it ebbs between ultra new and ultra old cuts but at least it's better than mixing in Country, AOR, 80's like before. For reference, see classic rock, classic hits, etc... Great promotions, decent personalities, no new music.

KXTN is gold based, with only a little more recent music. Country is core to the lifestyle, so that's why you hear an occasional country gold song.
