There wasn't any "CBS Overnight News" in 1979; "CBS News Nightwatch" was nearly 3 years away at this point, premiering in October of 1982.

Also, the Iran Hostage Crisis was taking place at the time, so any ABC late programming would be delayed by 15 minutes for the latest on the crisis. That day, 13 of them-mostly women-came home. The others would not be released until President Reagan came to power in '81.

I'm guessing "INTV" just means it's an independent station; Looks like a pretty typical indie lineup from the period.

From the date of this listing, it had been more than eight months since the three-way network swap between Channels 5 (NBC to ABC), 9 (ABC to independent), and 11 (independent to NBC). You'll notice too that 9 was also clearing CBS' late night lineup since WCCO elected to go with its own late night programming.

A few clarifications, if I may....

Channel 4 did offer all-night news, of sorts: it was a series of computer graphics with their FM-sister station playing in the background. You can see it here at the end of this recording: https://tcmedianow.com/wcco-tv-10pm...er-ann-rubenstein-dr-walt-lyons-tom-hanneman/

The Tribune's TV grid had the four network logos over the station call letters/channel position. For Channel 9, someone made up the INTV logo. They were an independent station.

Channel 9's late night programming wasn't from CBS at this point. The programs listed were in syndication, but KMSP ran an altered schedule that was similar to the CBS Late night movie. KMSP did run the CBS Late Night Movie during its waning days as an ABC affiliate (because when you feel snubbed, you do things like that, I guess). I have seen listings where they kept running the CBS Late Night Movie through the spring and summer of '79.

Finally, "Edge of Night" was never cleared by KSTP since KMSP had not cleared it before the March of '79 affiliate swap.
