New morning show for Hot 98.1 starting Monday

Weekender and former 93.3 The Planet night show host "Dex" is inbound from Asheville's Adult Top 40 WOXL to Hot 98.1 full time to do mornings starting next week:

Perhaps it will be a viable listening alternative to the rest home known as Hawk and Tom.

I wasn't a fan of the guy that had been doing it at all, at least not in mornings. Tone Hollywood was decent but fits in waaaaay better on an urban station (now Jamz) than during his latter days on Hot, and Jamz needed the midday punch with Kelly Mac starting on The Block.

WOXL is Adult Top 40? Who said that? I never heard that they changed from AC.
 
They have gone back and forth between Hot AC and Adult leaning CHR (if there's much difference) for a while now. I haven't known them to have been AC for a while. Positioner is "Ashevilles Hit Music." The older music is all on Rewind now.

On the original subject, Dex has a lot of potential as a CHR morning host. Until they fix the music though...
 
I've listened to Dex and Barbie T on the way to work this week off and on (yay, long commutes!) and it's pretty good. They seem to have good chemistry on air. They play a lot more music than Hawk and Tom and it's not a gag fest stuck in the 1990s.

Hot has done some Mainstream CHR adds this week like Imagine Dragons and Niall Horan, hopefully this is a good sign they're close to completely morphing from rhythmic in to a mainstream CHR and will be a true competitor to WFBC. Most of the Rhythmic/Urban adds are dayparted in to nights or overnights only now.

Okay, I just thought AC sounds like that now. But shouldn't someone be doing the softer music in Asheville, if there is such a thing?
