Latest GSP ratings

Looks like Jamz is done with having double digits anymore. And it was a bad book for pop music. Down were: B93.7, Hot, My102.5 and Magic. Even rock had a bad book with only 104.9 edging up. Even X98.5 was down.

Winners this time seem to be the 2 country stations and talk.

It was a strange book. Looks like The Block didn’t even register.

And odd that WROO was up when the trends showed it down (and X up). Guess some weighting going on there.

The Planet under a 3 share is no surprise, but I remember when it was awful that they dipped below a 4.

Earth did well. It looks like 104.9 took some listeners from both Entercom rock stations. That's a higher number than they ever got during football season even.

Where's The Block?

I think The Planet has been losing listeners to both 98.5 and 104.9. X has a fair amount of grunge they are probably using to pull people in and Man Up! probably plays almost all of The Planet’s playlist mixed in with more classic rock. It’s getting skimmed from both ends.

The station sounds awful so can’t say I’m sorry to see it’s ratings plummet.

Does anyone know what happened to The Block? Did Entercom not subscribe since they're a translator or something? I can't see them crashing from a 2 share to nothing.

I have to say, that station is putting more effort in to being involved in the community than ANY other full signal FM is.

I wouldn't be surprised if the station just disappeared in the ratings this time, especially looking how much all the pop stations dropped in this book. But that station is a little force force be reckoned with. It will be back and probably stronger than ever.

(I'm sure than when Entercom subscribes to Nielsen, it's for all stations -- or none. )

While on the subject of ratings, what is the top rated morning show in the GSP market? Hawk and Tom? John Boy and Billy? Ace and TJ? Or some other local hosts? Just curious. And on a related note, I wish Entercom would put Bob and Sherry on one of their local signals since WLNK now suffers localized interference in Greenville County. I get them fine in the house, but unfortunately car reception is now problematic. I wish the LPFM could somehow move to another frequency. Their current signal is very limited and causes mutual interference with WLNK which used to come in clear. Maybe Entercom could simulcast WLNK on one of their translator signals, as 97.1 and 97.7 have unnecessary duplication.

Entercom missed filing Block for ratings credit. It's doing all it's supposed to and more.

I thought something might be up, especially since Jamz moved up slightly. Thanks Craig!

It's notable that Entercom currently has a CP for 96.3 that was granted about a year ago that would go extremely directional causing them to literally null the signal out to the NW and throw all of the power to the Northeast/South/West. I would think this would increase the signal penetration in areas where they have trouble that are still inside the 60dbu. The only thing that move would really cause them to give up is the Pickens county coverage, where I doubt they have many listeners there anyway.

I've listened to a lot of translators and I've never heard so much effort put in to one. Entercom is in this for the long haul. I still say it'll go to a bigger stick, keep in mind there is a lot of audience they could pick up in Anderson, Laurens, even Union counties as well that the translators don't reach. That would send Summit in to a tailspin. With a re-focused and musically improved B and The Block, they've already pushed WHZT to shift their format as I've noted numerous times. Good grief, back when out of market stations showed up in the books, WPEG and WBAV frequently pulled 1-2 shares.
