Too many commercials even for MTV!!!!

We all know MTV (and every other Viacom-owned network) run boatloads of commercials. So many commercials that even when they schedule their shows off the clock they still run late. This evening I was watching "Catfish". The episode was supposed to end at 7PM and it didn't end several minutes after 7. Then instead of immediately starting the next episode a quick slide of a test pattern came up that said "MTV Please Stand By" Voice-Over Guy: MTV is running late so we're going to slide into the next episode. The next episode starts a few minutes in progress. This is the second time I've seen this happen.

it is Viacom, they pretty much gave "Turner Time" steroids and out came this concept of weird start/end time for shows with extra commercials and speed up TV shows or movies where the audio sounds weird for some reason due to it. this is exactly why people are cutting the cord, they are fed up with crap like this that Viacom and other companies do. Viacom is the worst offender of this.

i blame Ted Turner for this too cause he created "Turner Time" and Viacom took his idea and gave it steroids and made it hard to record or watch shows period.

One day I decided to monitor the commercial load on one episode of MASH on TV Land,,, Came up with 21 minutes of show, 19 minutes of commercials (in the 40 minutes allowed for the show). Half spots and about 5 minutes cut out of the show. Thats why we buy the DVD collections and forget Viacom TV.

TVLAND I noticed it depends on the show. The Golden Girls Marathon starts at 7:48AM (Eastern) ever Sunday. Each episode has an extra 6 mins of commercials until Noon. Then at Noon they stop the extra 6 mins of commercials and go back on Clock. Golden Girls episode start times are as follows:

7:48AM
8:24AM
9:00AM
9:36AM
10:12AM
10:48AM
11:24AM
Noon.

Same with the Roseanne marathon on Saturdays. It starts with the commercials and then goes back on the clock either at 9AM or Noon. (I don't know why they changed it up). Start times for Roseanne:

2:36AM
3:12AM
3:49AM
4:21AM
4:54AM
5:27AM
6:00AM
6:36AM
7:12AM
7:48AM
8:24AM
9:00AM
9:36AM
10:12AM
10:48AM
11:24AM
Noon
Then Back on the clock. Note: It starts with a couple episodes with 6 extra minutes. Then one with 7 extra minutes. Then 2, 3, and 4, before going back to 6 mins at 6AM.

IMO, he's a bigger scam artist than those infomercials advertising "house-flipping" seminars. That "Flex Seal" junk does not work.

it works, but you have to follow the instructions that tell you how to use the products, you must be doing something very wrong to have it make you think the stuff doesn't work.

Scam or not, i was only commenting on how much fun those spots are. As infomercials go, its at least entertaining. As for the product,, never used it.

I like "Catfish", I think it is the most interesting and provocative show on MTV. It must do well in ratings given the amount of time the network gives it. That being said, the commercial breaks are incredibly long. One episode I actually timed it out. Opening segment 7 minutes, then segments of 6, 6, 5, 6, 7, 4, 4. On several breaks the commercial segments lasted longer than the program segments. And don't get me started on the repetition and/or content of the commercials on this show. 80% candy/sweets, soft drinks, and other sugar products. 20% diaper products.

The answer is obvious. DVR them and watch a 1 hour and 10+ minute show in 45 minutes.

I don't think Flex Seal works wouldn't use it to fix a boat with cannon holes in it or flex tape on the roof although living in a condo don't have worry about that.

Being a former Iowan, I learned early on that you had to be really careful where your Catfish is sourced. As with MTV's high commercial load full of refined products that aren't that good for you, river Catfish in Iowa is full of nitrates and farm chemicals, many of which used to be widely advertised during local TV news.

That's why I don't eat or watch Catfish. (Plus, my Dish package doesn't have MTV)

um, the show Catfish has nothing to do with the actual type of fish you might find in the lake, it's more or less about people who pretend they are someone else online, the term "catfish" was coined to describe this concept, as a Catfish is very ugly fish, and some people who try to "catfish" a person is ugly
