WCRB is dropping like a stone. It won't be long before classical music is dropped and the station is likely sold.

WCRB is part of the WGBH family of non-commercial stations. Its listeners are loyal and devoted. Heck, some might even be in the advertiser-dreaded 55+ to dead demo; imagine! The dropoff in August might be attributable to some listeners' being away from home, though WCRB programming is heard throughout MA and RI on various frequencies. And then there's their streaming presence....
No, they've survived two ownership changes and a frequency change, so I would not be so quick to write them off.

Yes, and WFCR is doing quite well. In fact, it is the dominant FM public radio signal in the region. The news/talk programming for Springfield and environs is relegated to Ancient Modulation 640 WNNZ Westfield. Of course, WFCR also carries Morning Edition and All Things Considered (as does WNNZ), so it doubles as an NPR news/talk station during the most important listening times.
I'm surprised, actually, that there are no WCRB translators in the western part of the state. Is it intentional, part of a gentlemen's agreement with WFCR, which limits its translators to Springfield and points west, leaving the Worcester "battleground" alone.

Will continue to give $$$ to WCRB to keep it on. A city without a Classical Music Station belongs to the Nimrods of the world. Boston can not be considered a world class city and maybe a city of culture without a classical music outlet on radio.

Yes, they still do. WGBH HD2 also saves the day for my mom, a lifelong classical listener, who can't get 99.5 clearly behind a north-blocking hill in Newton. Probably the only 89-year-old in the area listening to an HD subchannel every day.
9 months after Wally Brine retired, WROR still has the Loren and Wally Morning Show. With Loren, Hank, Lungboy, and LBF...but no Wally. Wally still pops into the studio on occasion. You can still hear Wally voiceovers. They still run Men From Maine (with Wally and the also previously "retired" Tom Doyle). They still do the occasional Wally's Records From Home Weekend.
How long can they run a Wally-less Loren and Wally show? I guess as long as they want for as long as they remain number 1 in the ratings.

WFCR does really well in The Hartford, Connecticut Ratings. Hartford hasn't had a Classical Station since the 490 Watt AM Powerhouse known as Beethoven 1290 (and its FM Classic Rock Station WCCC) were sold by Marlin Broadcasting to K-LOVE 3 years ago. Fairfield County in Connecticut has WSHU-FM from Sacred Heart University. Greater Danbury has WMNR 88.1 Fine Arts Radio. That's on over a dozen translators across the state. (That pisses me off). Block Island/Eastern Connecticut has Classical 95.9 WCRI.
They also have an ad posted for an afternoon host now. Go for it, "alt-rock" jocks!

What's going on with T & R? Seems like their popularity has declined. I noticed on Toettcher's twitter feed a lot of negative replies to his tweets. Some of his tweets seem incoherent.
