WZGX...What happened?

Anyone know what the story is on WZGX in Bessemer? The station was to be sold to Red Mountain Ventures, but the license transfer was never approved by the FCC, even though it's been almost three months since the app was filed. An LMA was supposed to begin on July 1, but WZGX is still operating with the regional mexican format in place. Even more odd, W256CD has been stating the WZGX calls in the legal TOH ID with "99.1, The Game" for over a month now.

I still don't have a clue as to what's going on here. There is obviously some sort of snafu that is holding everything up. I just don't know what.

If that sale does indeed go through, it means that in all probability Samford will have to scramble for an OTA home for their broadcasts, unless they were to move them back to WVSU. Truth be told, I'm not so sure that WVSU doesn't have a better coverage of the area than 99.1 does.

Still trying to figure out why 99.1 The Game's TOH ID mentions WZGX in it, when the AM is still airing the regional mexican format. 99.1 had been rebroadcasting WDJC-HD3 originally, but there is no mention of the HD3 in the TOH ID anymore. Bizarro world...

I'm assuming the sports format is still on WDJC-HD3 while all this WZGX stuff is on hold?

No idea, as I don't own or have access to an HD radio to check and see. Is it possible the deal with Crawford Broadcasting to originate 99.1 The Game's programming on WDJC-HD3 has already ended...which would explain why WDJC-HD3 is no longer mentioned in the TOH ID on 99.1? If that's the case, what station, if any, is 99.1 The Game rebroadcasting??

Not sure if it's related to the subject at hand, but WZGX has been off the air today. Then again, the station regularly disappears and reappears, so who knows?
