KRBE not going to Entercom...yet

Another radio station ruined by the tax dodging bastards at EMF.

There is nothing illegal or devious about a non-profit company having no obligation to pay income taxes. They do, however, pay many other taxes such as Social Security employer payments, etc.

Just to play songs about a book of codified superstitions and passed-down stories. I want to preach the gospel of The Brothers Grimm. Can I get a nonprofit radio station to do it with?

If you incorporate as a legitimate non-profit, you can espouse any creed you wish (as long as it does not impinge upon the rights of others).

Another opportunity for Entercom to trade with Cumulus for KRBE would be in San Francisco. Entercom would trade 2 FMs to Cumulus for 2 Cumulus' AM stations in San Francisco and KRBE in Houston, or possibly 3 San Francisco stations if Cumulus is willing to spin KFFG 97.7 to someone else.

The only Cumulus AM in SF that matters is KNBR, and Cumulus would never trade that away. Their other AMs are door stops that aren't equal to an FM.

How about if Cumulus trades KRBE, KSFO, KGO, and possibly some of their smaller market clusters to Entercom for two San Francisco FMs? That would make sense.

Why would Cumulus leave Houston? Why would they leave a city? I wouldn’t!!

Having a stand alone major, competitive facility in a large transactional market is really hard, and it mans much higher costs and much lower margins and a harder sale.

Entercom is getting one AM, KCBS-740. Why would they want two more AMs that look like they are barely profitable if at all and which are going to be a drag on margins and produce very poor shareholder optics.?

Cumulus owns more AMs than FMs in San Francisco, effectively maxing them out. So unless if Cumulus spins those AMs to Entercom, they wouldn't be able to acquire Entercom's spinoffs in San Francisco. If Entercom were to trade 3 FMs to Cumulus, then Cumulus should spin 97.7 to possibly EMF.
