WMFE is buying 89.5 WKSG (the Boulevard station in Silver Springs/Ocala area) for 900k.

Anyone know what the plans are for the new arrangement?

You don't need to put a question mark on the title because WMFE IS buying WKSG. They'll convert it into a public radio news/talk station, mainly simulcasting 90.7 WMFE and bringing it to underserved areas, which is mainly a portion of North Central Florida, Lake and Marion counties to be specific.

The call letters will also change as a result, though I have no idea as to what that could be as of yet or whether or not there'll be any specific programming available for WKSG, but my thinking is that WKSG will be a straight on simulcast of WMFE.

Although they don't mention it in the details of the article -- If WMFE does actually end up providing a separate NPR/APR/other programming lineup for 89.5's signal as suggested, it would be nice to hear the 89.5 programming as an HD-3 via the 90.7 signal when in Orlando.

Similar to what WUSF's 89.7 Tampa's HD-2 relays as WSMR 89.1 Sarasota's classical feed.

Just a thought.
