CBS/Entercom Sacramento to part ways with...

I read that Entercom would've divested CBS' Sacramento cluster as it was. I'm certainly interested to see who will end up acquiring these stations.

Entercom was originally planning to divest the entire CBS cluster, but that was before it surrendered 107.9.

I remember talking about that with somebody, possibly you. I had mentioned that, though my figures were a little old, KSFM would’ve fit under the revenue cap. Entercom probably would’ve preferred to keep KYMX or KNCI, but it couldn’t have done that and kept most of its existing cluster.

Agreed. I'll certainly expect Entercom to swap their remaining spinoffs with commercial broadcasters. The big question now is who will pick up Entercom's spinoffs in Sacramento as well as their other overlapping markets.

There has been some speculation that Bonneville is interested. Lance and Fybush mentioned that Entercom keeping KSFM would make that cluster ideal for Bonneville because KSFM was the one station in the soon-to-be former CBS cluster Bonneville wouldn’t want. Again, that’s just speculation, but the pieces fit.

Sounds like a good idea. I know that Entercom will receive 11 stations in 3 markets, and I hope Bonneville's Phoenix's cluster is among what Entercom's receiving.

Well, we also know the 11 stations being acquired have billed a little less than $20 million in the first half of the year.

Surprised that Entercom is keeping 94.7, 1320, and 102.5. I would have thought 96.1, 105.1 and 1140 would be much more overall value. Is the intent to keep the CBS cluster intact (less KSFM) and sell/trade as a package deal?

Entercom originally intended to spin CBS’ Sacramento cluster as it was including KSFM, but that was until they turned in the KDND license. With Entercom keeping 102.5, it would give 106.5 The End a good flanker.

The pairing of Rhythmic Top 40 KSFM and Mainstream Top 40 KUDL, much like the strategy they're using for Alternative KKDO, Classic Rock KSEG, and Active Rock KRXQ, could work in Entercom's favor. Both stations rarely overlap in terms of playlists and music but it gives them a arsenal to work with just in case they pick up a new competitor.

As I said before, Entercom will have a good pair of stations to flank each other post-merger.

Should be welcomed news for the CBS folks. From what I've heard, Bonneville takes good care of its employees.

I would not rule out entravision getting Mix 96 and KNCI FM. That would enable them to switch formats on their lower performing country format and make another spanish format available

Entravision already has 4 stations in sacremento. I think they would still be under the cap if they got the 4 stations from Bonneville within the next 180 days.
