Help me clear this up about The Joey Bishop Show.

This morning, they aired a first season episode in color. I thought that the first and fourth seasons were filmed and shown in black & white. Were they filmed in color and just broadcast in B&W? It's possible that my strokes have really messed with my brain, but this seemed too strange to me.

Hey, I thought I was the only person who watched The Joey Bishop Show!

I had heard that season 1 was B&W too so it was surprising to see those episodes in color. According to Wikipedia (not always the most reliable source, I know) season 1 was shot in color starting with episode 5. I guess we'll find out in a couple weeks when Antenna TV finishes airing season 4 and starts over again.

I think those two season 1 episodes were just thrown in as an afterthought. The Adams Family Halloween Marathon was originally scheduled to start at 6AM Eastern but got pushed back for some reason.

The show also airs on Retro TV.

I don't know where you're located, seatownmedis, but in Los Angeles Antenna TV is a sub channel of KTLA on virtual 5.2 and Retro TV is a sub channel of KBEH on virtual 63.3.

Antenna tv must be fiddling with the schedule. Yesterday they showed an early season 8 episode of Burns & Allen, and today they jumped back to two season 3 episodes.

I hate the way Antenna TV overlaps the closing credits of one show with the beginning of the next. Very annoying.

This is very common practice. Most basic cable outlets do this. I assume it is to minimize tune-out, and get you hooked on the next program.

I thought the pertinent question was "Why?" :D

Now that is funny s__t.

That said, I love silly shows from the 60's that are rarely seen today.

Joey later had a late night talk show on ABC with announcer Regis Philbin in the late 60's but lasted less than three years.

Bishop was a decent talk-show guest and host, but he was no actor. The two are different "types" of role, for lack of a better term. Had Johnny Carson been cast in a sitcom, he probably would have failed as well. IIRC, Carl Reiner's first choice for what became The Dick Van Dyke Show was Carson, but he wasn't available. Fortunately for Carson, Van Dyke, Reiner, CBS, and the rest of the world. :D

At least he wasn't Peter Lawford.

Bishop wrote much of the material the Rat Pack used, and served as emcee (read: "ringmaster") for their Vegas antics. Lawford was part of Sinatra's gang only because he was a Kennedy-in-law, and his career by that time was based on his Kennedy connections, although that wasn't the case prior to 1960. He lasted a few years longer than Vaughn Meader, but when Bobby was killed in '68, so went Lawford's show-biz career.
