Tegna to launch adventure/exploration diginet

Tegna are to launch a new diginet called Question in January that will focus on adventure and exploration. Tegna also own the diginet Justice Network. I wonder where will they get programming for this diginet? Old Discovery/Nat Geo shows? Justice gets shows from Discovery/A&E/TruTV. It better not be a channel like Tuff TV/Action that shows really cheap tacky shows that were never on any channels before. http://www.tvnewscheck.com/mobile/index/article/id/108675

Quest, not Question.

Doubtful, unless Fox is willing to rent out that content cheap. They run low rent programming on Justice, so it will probably be pretty marginal on Quest.

Maybe old Wild Kingdom episodes. In Search Of perhaps.

Old Wild Kingdoms would certainly appeal to the Boomers (and pre-Boomers) so many of these diginets attract. One problem, though -- the sponsor, Mutual of Omaha, is mentioned not only in the titles and opening sequence, but during the program itself, in strained tie-ins with the on-screen action. ("Like the lioness protects her young, Mutual of Omaha protects your home.") I've always assumed that's why old episodes never made it into syndication. Similarly, while even the most obscure TV Westerns seem to have a home on diginets, no diginet is carrying "Death Valley Days," as far as I know. Could that be because of the plugs for Boraxo (with Ronald Reagan) woven into the show?

Why would Discovery/Nat Geo not give 10+ year old shows? It's not like they are shown on their channels anymore and they would be making money on them? Justice Network has recent shows like Rocky Mountain Law, Southern Justice, Border Wars and Alaska States Troopers from Nat Geo including more recent shows from ID.

Currently showing on GRIT daily.

It seems that Tegna has placed Justice on the x.3 subchannel on all of their stations. They might do the same with this new diginet on the x.2 subchannel.

KHOU, under Belo, only had Bounce TV until the merger premiered the x.3 subchannel for Justice. I think Bounce might bounce (pun intended) to Univision O&O KXLN once the affiliation contract expires due to the group-wide deal.

I was hoping for WeatherNation on the x.3 channel instead, similar to Gannett's affiliation deals with WUSA, WXIA, KUSA and KARE, as a recent cord-cutter losing access to The Weather Channel and hating to stream WN on my computer or Smart TV/Blu-ray (Comcast throttled the speed for excessive bandwidth until recently). Tegna now tends to eschew WN for Justice on Belo stations and newer acquisitions, and replacing existing affiliations with Justice after the expiration date.

WHAS in Louisville has it on 11.2 so that it has their 24-hour radar on 11.3

Watched two episodes of Death Valley Days today and no mention of 20 Mule Team Borax except during the opening and closing. Interestingly, one episode featured Ronald Reagan as both host and lead actor (David Farragut). Still no mention of Borax.

Just to clarify, Reagan's Borax bits were stand-alone commercials rather than included in narration like the "Wild Kingdom" Mutual of Omaha mentions. The story being told would pause and you'd see Reagan in a studio talking about the product. So it makes sense that those would be cut out for syndication. I forgot that the product was mentioned in the open and close, too.

WZZM .2 is OnTarget Weather Network ACCUweather wouldn't be surprise if Justice moves to .2 Quest to .3 although have no interest in Quest.

The ONLY place Tegna has to put this new channel here in Denver is on KTVD 20.3 (Unless of course the ditch the SD simulcast of 9.1 on 9.4 but that's not likely)

It would have been better if they got Ice Road Truckers as there are 138 episodes where as IRT: Deadliest Roads has only 23 episodes. Other than Modern Marvels the show's they got have few episodes and due to this will get repeated over and over again in a short space of time
