KMPS is now full on Christmas

Sounds like Entercom has different plans for 94.1 MHz, being that xmas music is a great way to stunt into a new format. After 43 years in format, this is a surprise.

Very big surprise, considering the recent ratings success under PD Kenny Jay. Unless the plan is to take KMPS towards 90s country, while keeping The Wolf contemporary. This is what Cumulus has done with its two country stations in Nashville. In this way, they might rehire some of the classic KMPS personalities, many of whom still reside in the area.

DeAnna Lee just confirmed on FB that:
A. The format will remain country after Xmas
B. The staff is still there, just off air for now.

It's funny they are calling it "Seattle's #1 Christmas station" when its probably going to be Seattle's third Christmas station :D

Saw that post...and it would be more believable if they were just playing Christmas music by country artists. They started out with a Christmas song by Mariah Carey...on a country station, that is sacrilege.

Make them the 4th. KCMS - we tend to forget that CRISTA does the whole 8lb 6 ounce little new born infant Jesus celebration thing as well. This Holiday book is going to be one of the most interesting in a LONG time. How much will it fracture the listening audience? Will stations that don't play holiday music and stick the basics fare better this year?

Country station KKGO in Los Angeles went all Christmas last year, and they played ALL Christmas songs regardless of genre. They will do it again starting Monday.

From a logistics standpoint (not a programming one) this may be great opportunity. Gives the engineering time to relocate the station to the rest of the Entercom cluster without a lot of extra staffing hassles.

Task list:
Set up new studio
Throw the switch
Give old studio to Yelm High School

Good point, and it's something I'd considered. The part that threw me off was the non-country xmas music, which sounded like a format change stunt.

Was listening to KMPS a few days ago, and noticed that they are running promos for their country listeners to tune to KKWF if they want to hear country music. Hmmm...something seems afoot.
