WBZ Network News Shuffle/Adjustment Has Begun?

And now WBZ the Iheart edition is also simulcasting on Kiss 108

iHeartMedia Boston adds a simulcast of News/Talk WBZ-AM (NewsRadio 1030) to the HD-2 channel of CHR WXKS-FM (KISS 108). WBZ has offered Boston a mix of local and national news, traffic and weather for over 90 years. In addition, iHM Boston announced that Dance "Evolution 101.7," will simulcast on Country WBWL-FM (101.7 The Bull)'s HD-2 channel and Talk WRKO-AM will simulcast on Classic Rock WZLX's HD-2 channel. The three HD simulcasts will be effective immediately.

You can tell that IHeart is trashing WBZ Newsradio 1030 during this mornings news. At the 8AM hour Iheart played so many of their commercials leading in to the top of the hour, the news segments were not on time. Traffic and Weather on the 3's occurred at 8:05 even though the announcer said it was 8:03.
Iheart must be delaying the broadcast. They are running WBZ like a music station. Their news segments are on a time schedule and need to be on time!!!

iHeart, the company, doesn't run each individual station from some master control room at the Evil iHeart Headquarters. WBZ is run from its studio (still Leo Birmingham Pkwy). If the clock is off, it's a reflection of the local producer/air talent. Since iHeart may have altered clocks, shifted breaks, etc, there may be an adjustment period where, god forbid, they air something a minute or two late. Yes, there is a delay going from control room to HD transmitter to your radio. Perhaps it was 8:03:48 when they said it was 8:03. Delay by the 20 seconds or, and your clock being off slightly and, boom, it's 8:05 on your clock. And guess what, if Chris Culkeen tells you that traffic on 128 south sucks at 8:03, it's still going to suck at 8:05.

Last I heard WBZ 1030 was still at 1170 Soldiers Field Rd. It is WBZ-FM that is on Leo Birmingham Pkwy.

iHeart does have a master control in rhe area. In Medford, I believe. I think their Total Traffic and News Network, as well as some/all their Boston stations, are housed there. And WBZ-AM and WRKO are probably headed there next year.
 
mnw1890 says WBZ's segments are running late. Remember if you're listening to the audio stream, it's going to be a minute behind the AM radio station. And all of the All-News stations sometimes run late on some features. The newscaster knows if he goes too early, the traffic reporter/weather forecaster/sportscaster, etc. may not be there. Better to run another spot and go late than go early.

And yes, if it's "Traffic and Weather on the Threes," and it's really :04, the newscaster will say "It's 11:03 and here's traffic." They are told not to explain that you're going late. It would take more time to explain it than to just give the incorrect time. It happens on ALL the all-news stations.

Apologies, they are on Soldiers Field Road, not Leo Birmingham with the rest of the (former) CBS radio stations. My bad. They don't run the board for WBZ from Medford, San Antonio, or Paducah, KY. They do it from their own studio.

It's more likely because now both CBS and ABC are distributed by SkyView Networks. Hey, it works well for me. :cool:

I still feel they don't need that generic nameless feed from WW1 with the two fine services they now have. But, as someone mentioned here, news radio is a huge content consumer, and I suppose they'll take as much as they can get.

Also happy to still hear voices of WBZ-TV meteorologists, albeit with no live interaction, when the weather promises to get krappie.

UPDATE: got contacted by the DJs @babyhotsauce and @JustaBeezy who said they are working on it. Good job to both of them for reaching out and hopefully fixing this. They better get a huge raise and promotion for being the only ones to get back to me out everyone at @Kiss108
