Do you think she may be "tainted" by her association with Howie Carr? Some will always associate her with Howie's show....and I don't think GBH wants any of that baggage...

You mean Nancy Shack. Carr has handicapped on-air talent ...with talent by giving them phony names like VB instead of Goudy

I didn't get to listen to her much, if at all, on WMEX. But when she covered for Howie, I always thought that was a real treat. No insults, no pandering, just reasoned, mild-mannered discussion with her callers.

I really hope the folks at 'GBH can look beyond her association with Howie and give her a shot. She may not be "left" enough for them, but she is far from hard right.

She was executive producer for Carr's show, wasn't she?

I cannot imagine that would harm her career in the least -- unless she was incompetent in that role (and I never got that impression, although I am less enamored with her as a host than others who post here (BARBARA!)

VB's career didn't seem to be hampered by his association with Carr. He landed on TV for a while and now is now on RKO, which some may say is a "demotion". Do not know his individual circumstances, but I gather he has 4 very young kids and may not be as mobile as he would need to be to land another TV gig.

All bets off though if she's interviewing for a position where the hiring manager is an ideologue and puts political ideology above profits. In which case, I'd fire the hiring manager.
 
Nancy Shack is not only a lawyer but she was one of Jerry Williams' producers at WRKO in his last days as Howie Carr was sticking the knife into his mentor.
 
The answer is no. I wouldn't give anyone from RKO a chance - past or present.

I just don't want to rehash crap from your personal and professional career from 20 years ago on a radio discussion board.

Let's get this back on topic...I heard one of Sandy's reports yesterday afternoon. She was as smooth and professional as ever...even though it was "just" a traffic report!

It was great to hear her on the radio again. Hoping it leads to another full time talk show opportunity.
 
Howie did not give her the Sandy handle it was Jerry Williams who was dating a woman named Nancy at the time. I believe she was called Sandy to avoid confusion.
 
Actually Jerry's girlfriend may have been Sandy Nagro.The Sandy nickname may have been to help protect Nancy Shack's privacy, or was an inside joke..She did ID herself as Sandy Shack on WMEX.Howie gave Doug Goudy the VB (Virgin Boy aka Victor Bravo) nickname.He used "VB" on Ch 25 too, and at one time had another Doug (Meehan) with him on air.

I thought the reason they all got fake names had something to do with working around some kind of union rules about on-air personalities that would have otherwise cost Howie some money. I vaguely remember them explaining that years ago.
 
Don’t know about Howie using fake names to skirt union rules or save money but it is print that he would feed the gossip hoes at the Inside Track information about Jerry Williams social life off air as means to distract Jerry’s on-air Performance with the hope of dethroning him.Carr also used ageism to go after Williams as being over the hill although at the time Jerry Williams was younger than Howie Carr is today.
Too bad Jerry Williams didn’t fight fire with fire and and note that Howie Carr dump his first wife for Janet Jeghalian’s Secretary while he was still married to Mrs. Card Number One!

The radio world today does not revolve around your rumors and personal vendettas from 35 years ago.

Not a rumor.Carr married his paramour. No wonder he supports the moral leper In the now Offal Office.
