WSMN 1590 AM

I know we have some Merrimack Valley people on this board, so maybe you have some answers to these questions.

Was cruising through the are and came across 1590AM WSMN. I was surprised to hear pop music and oldies....with no ID's or lines or jocks in between the songs.

I know that it was purchased from the people that own Nashua 900AM and Manchester 1250AM....with great plans to bring the power back up to specs and fill out the schedule with some local talk. I made a cell phone call to the station to ask if they had changed formats, etc....and got no answer in the middle on a business day.

1.) Did they change format and start playing music? (Following the lead of once-time sister stations 1250AM/900AM?)

2.) Are they still using that temporary low-power of 500 watts from a single antenna? (They are licensed for 5,000watts directional)

3.) Are the new owners still running the place.....or did reality come and hit them in the face?

Having read about their big plans for bringing the station back to life...I was somewhat excited for them, knowing they are going against all the odds.

Anyone know whats going on up there?

Top of their website says Nashua's News and Talk--then there's a scroll under it saying "23.5 hours of uniterrupted (sic) music--nobody gives you more"

But just posted on their twitter:
>>@WSMN1590 Nashua Senior Ctr Spotlight 7a w/ @mrtalkradio @JudyAnnPorter. Get caught up on the many programs and resources at the Ctr. @BartisWSMN1590

Before that:
>>Welcome @TalkinBoxing to the New Hampshire Airwaves on WSMN1590 8-10p TONIGHT!

As of 8:27 am, a guy on talking about Grammys, Superbowl etc.
"You name it, they're bettin' on it...if they're opening the dome...on top of it, the ads, and for those who don't watch (football) they'll tune in for the ads. But you can get those on Youtube anyway..."

I don't trust the website...it seems like something is going on.

Why would they be promoting "23.5 hours of music"...on "Nashua's New & Talk Station"?

My name is George Russell, myself and Bob Bartis own WSMN1590. I've been broadcasting for 18 years I've been doing 6-9a since 2008 on WSMN1590. We just moved the station from one side of main street to the other, if you want to see our lineup go to wsmn1590.com. Please do listen from 6a-9a tomorrow morning because I surely will refer to your post on air without hiding behind a computer screen. Feel free to call in 603-816-1590
My email is [email protected] Twitter @mrtalkradio as a matter of fact our studio doors are open daily to anyone, feel free to stop by and take a tour. 196 Main Street Suite 200 Nashua, NH
The above post you made "some guy" that was me. Have a nice day raccoon.

Thanks for keeping it local.Hopefully Ed Perry will do similiarly local programming if he can get W(call letters TBA!) 1510 back on the air. "Some guy", ha, I just TunedIn to the app for a moment, so pardon the generalization.Free publicity, the best publicity.

Hello Mr. Talkradio....Thanks for making yourself known. Can you answer these questions:

1.) when and why did you start playing music on "Nashua's News and Talk" station?

2.) Is 1590 still using that temporary low-power of 500 watts from a single antenna? Is there a plan to return to the 5,000 watt signal?

3.) Did you complete an actual purchase of 1590...or is it a lease/LMA-type situation?

Thanks!

My objective was to remove all non local talk and play music until I fill the time with local humans. Since moving I elected not to move our dish and therefore can no longer receive syndicated programs, unless it is FTP and I'm in the works on that.
We are 1000 watts on a single 199.9' tower we plan to go 10,000w plus FM. When? 10 year window.
Actual purchase. Company is Bartis/Russell Broadcasting LLC. You can find out more info at radio-locator.com
If you know downtown Nashua we are in the turret in the Masonic Building hanging out over main street, with 15 windows stenciled.
