Garrison Keillor is a Spoiled Child

He was fired for his actions. MPR really did nothing wrong here. I can see the merit in preserving the 'Prairie Home' archive because, for some curious reason, there are people who want to hear it. Further, if he wants to make Almanac into a podcast, MPR should let him do that, but with compensation for their role in producing it.

His other demands, and statements through his lawyer, reek of someone who has yet to be honest with himself that his behavior was wrong and he, not the station, should be making amends.

I'm one of those who wants the "Prairie Home" archive. I never dreamed I would want to hear the show until I discovered it after I found out "Car Talk" repeated on Sundays. I would just leave the radio on the station. "Wait! Wait!" and "Prairie Home" also repeated on Sundays.

I've heard his version and I think he's done what he needs to. I don't believe the rest of it.

You were who I was thinking of when I wrote that the archive should be made available. Hard for me to believe that many would like it, but since you do, there must be something good within it.

I miss "Guy Noir" and "Lives of the Cowboys". They even had to drop the Powdermilk jingle when the accusations were made.

I don't like the music all that much. Some of it was good, but I didn't like a lot of it. I suppose they still have the funny sound effects, but there just hasn't been much for me lately. However, if "Car Talk" isn't on any more, the radio isn't on either. "Wait Wait" is on at its old time on one station and I'm back from the grocery by then, so there's no reason to listen the next day.

Not everyone likes change but the new show is coming into it's own. I do like the music and this helps expose many great artists who would never get played on commercial radio. The comedy bits are good as well. Tom Papa's "out in America" is funny. They could always come up with some new ideas too. Just time to move on I guess.

I agree, but it's a very different show. Thus changing the name and divorcing it completely from its originator is appropriate regardless of the reason. They should have changed the name when Garrison retired.

No biscuits and no Lutherans, but a lot more music.

My daughter drove up to Austin for the live show last Friday, and said the venue was packed and that it was obvious that the audience enjoyed the show. Her "non radio" opinion was that it appealed more to her generation and that the PHC routines were getting long in the tooth.

Considering Garrison based his show on the Grand Ole Opry and other classic old style radio variety shows, it makes sense. Vaudeville died a long time ago.
