"rule #1,....'BeeZee Weekend Blows!"
"rule #2,.....Don't Forget Rule # 1" 👍

Morgan White can be interesting when he has a guest although he tends to high jack the conversation and make it all about himself. When he doesn't have a guest he could put a meth addict to sleep. Does anyone enjoy listening to those dump trivia games. And he speaks so slow.

Dean Johnson is enjoyable and Bruce Stevens seems like a nice guy but he is dull.

If you run out of Sominex turn on Weekend Live. You'll be dead to the world in minutes. :)

As for newscasters, there's Tina Gao and Garo Hagopian, two of 'BZ's finest. Charlie Sherman has altered his "pitch" and delivery and is now quite listenable.

I suppose the "urgency" one could sense during weekday newscasts tends to be absent on the weekends.

I'm a faithful listener to WBZ on weekends, at least during the hours they carry live news.

I mentioned in one of these threads that Mina Greene, weekend afternoon anchor, is MIA, and now it appears Charlie Sherman may be as well.

Weekend mornings used yo have three rotating anchors, now down to two: Art Cohen and Tina Gao.

Weekend afternoons were anchored by Mike Macklin and Mina Greene; now its Mike and Garo Hagopian, who I believe is a news writer/editor there.

So, does anyone know if Mina and Charlie are indeed gone?

I haven't seen anything on the radio trade sites

Mina has/had been at BZ a long time - also teaches at Cape Cod Community College.

The Cape is becoming a refuge for former CBS Radio Boston employees: Walt Perkins, formerly sports anchor at BZ is the morning news anchor at WKTK; Karen Blake formerly of WODS morning show is now on WQRC morning show, Pat Demaris of BZ weekends is at WXTK doing a Sunday morning show/filling in on other time slots and I think does sales too.

Thank you for the info.

I had read somewhere that Mina teaches at CCCC. I was a bit surprised, though, since I was under the impression she lived in NH, given that she had done some work for NH Public TV.

I was aware that Walt, with his fine pipes, was at WXTK, "an iHeartRadio Station". Oh, wait - so is WBZ! So, if he didn't burn any bridges when he left the latter, we may yet hear him there again someday.

Ms Blake has been all over the dial, probably for as long as I've lived up here (45+ years). May she continue to add years to her career.

And Pat Demaris did a pretty decent job on WBZ both on weekends and whenever else he filled in. I hope 'BZ calls on him again.

That leaves Charlie Sherman, who lost his anchor spot when Binnie shut down its TV news operation in NH a couple of years ago. Maybe iHeart has bigger things in mind for him, who knows?

I don't know how true it is, but I had heard that Charlie Sherman was actually living in Florida during the week and would fly home on weekends for the BZ Gig.

I believe Mina Greene lived in New Hampshire while working at WCAP.

I know Tina not well but our paths have crossed a few times over the years. I must say that I am very impressed at how good she sounds on BZ.

One can tell Tina REALLY enjoys her on-air time, continually thanking the listener for tuning in to "WBZ Newsradio 1030, an iHeartRadio station".

LOL. I haven't noticed that probably because my time spent listening to BZ News is very short especially on weekends. Now that you pointed it out, I am sure I will notice it all the time. Just like when a friend pointed out that a now retired BZ Anchor Bob Something had difficulty pronouncing W so quite when he had to say WBZ News it was a prerecorded ID

Bad News/ Good News

The BAD:

The state of "weekend radio" has driven me very close to madness lately! :)

Between non stop AM's financial/nursing home drek and greazzy spoon shilling and FM's Maoist "Kill Old White GOP Men" blather...... to ONE more time..... hearing the....."Replacing or Refacing!?" Sherw or that Harpie with her Southie Drawl,.... "Hello PONE PORCE!?" just about was ready to drive off the Neponset Bridge next time!.......

THEN,...........

The GOOD:

EUREKA, I have found it! ,..... The solution!
Giving the whole SHEBANG the heave ho and going radio silent Saturday's and Sunday's!
Picked up a few CD's at a garage sale for a buck!,... and now Hello Wollaston's own "Red Peters" is the multi disc player in the car,.....FOR GOOD!

God Bless America!

Jealous?

Cheers!
