Bloomberg 1200 format change soon

... there it is conserv talk 9 am WXKS 1200 and WJMN 94 5 HD2 Boston's New Home For Conservative Talk
@bostonradio tweet:
Talk 1200 is debuting at 9am this morning. Glenn Beck 9-12, RUsh 12-3, Hannity 3-6, Buck Sexton 6-9, Mark Levin 9-Midnight, Ben Maller 2-6pm, Clay Travis 6-9a

Clay Travis was not on from 6-9am today...it was Bloomberg Daybreak programming til 9am, then Beck. There's no mention of Clay in the article linked below dated today, March 1, which outlines the new lineup. I'm hoping they bring Clay Travis over, I'd rather listen to him for a few hours like I did on 1430. The "Bloomberg Daybreak" stuff...mostly news, traffic with Malcolm Alter (blast from the past!), and lots of stock talk. The station is just as bad as RKO as far as airing two spots at the same time. Yikes!

So what's going on at 1430, adrift and unwanted in the Aloha Trust? "Spanish music" (likely some form of Latin CHR or tropical -- although flamenco guitar, from Spain, would be a pleasant surprise, as would a loop of Los Bravos' "Black is Black," Miguel Rios' "Song of Joy" and Mocedades' "Eres Tu," along with a bit of Pablo Casals) doesn't tell me much. Is it a jukebox running out of a computer in a closet, or actual, thought-out-and-presented-by-human-beings radio? I suspect the former, since the station is only on the air to keep the equipment warm for the next sucker, I mean, true believer in the potential of an FM-less AM. Oh wait, those two terms are synonymous.

"Spanish hits" is one description I heard.Yes Spanish language music is a broad spectrum and I didn't hear it for too long to be able to describe it. A syndicated morning show and the return of the nickname Rumba is what I read of it.
Lance Venta, Radio Insight:"With 1430 WKOX now in the Ocean States Trust in preparation of divestment, it has now flipped to Spanish CHR as “Rumba 1430“. The syndicated Enrique Santos will air in mornings. The station previously held that identity from 2006-2009 when it simulcast with 1200."

See a post above, Clay Travis is part of lineup. They chose to switch over with 9 am and Beck.

Clay Travis is not a "conservative radio program"...he's outkick the coverage...we'll see tomorrow morning if he shows up....I hope he does because the "bloomberg daybreak" crap was a snooze fest! What happens between midnite and 6am.......who's on air then?

Fox Sports including Ben Maller who is known to WEEI listeners and done some shifts there. As with WKOX, mid-9 am is Fox Sports.
News item: iHeart may declare bankruptcy this weekend

So, I'm outside the area. What did they do on the air? Just all of a sudden switched frequencies? Wouldn't you lose a bunch of listeners? I would think they should have simulcast for at least a few days and then flipped the switch.

Read the thread. They've been prepping listeners for a week. They can't simulcast because 1430 is in the trust, and 1200 was under contract with Bloomberg.

They can't simulcast because it's illegal. If you listened carefully you would have noticed Bloomberg wasn't either.

D. Simulcasting
59. Apparent uncertainty emerges from some partles'
pleadings regarding our rules governing the simulcasting
of programming as a result of the increased ownership
permitted within a market under Our new local ownership
limits. We will take this opportunity to clarify our
simulcasting rules. Simulcasting remains unlimited for stations
in different services. For stations in the same service
whose principal community contours overlap such that
the overlap area constitutes more than 50 percent of either
station's principal community contour area. simulcasting
may not exceed 25 percent of either station's daily broadcast
time. These rules apply both to stations commonly
owned and to those separately owned but time brokered.
Our rules will be clarified where necessary.

1430 may have switched around midnight, not sure.Around 9 am 1200 was running Bloomberg's IDs and frequency lists-- silence, then an ID to introduce themselves and into Fox News

And The IQ of WXKS AM dropped 100 points

Why would the "IQ" of WXKS have dropped with a change to an Hispanic targeted format? That sounds like a dreadful ethnic slur, unless you can explain it better.

I think he’s completely the opposite of what you interpreted. WXKS is 1200, so I think he’s saying the IQ drop was going from Bloomberg to conservative talk...
