DETAILS COMING SOON.

any idea what maybe forthcoming ?
My guess is a shift to an "Oldies 104" sound.

yes classic hits is the official format, but it will always be
oldies 104, same as it never stopped being Joy96 .....

bigger question: anybody care anymore ?

Another moniker change? The Ultimate Recycling Project.
Let the buzzards pick over the bones...

I'll believe it when I see it.

At least with the recent moves at 101.1 & 105.1, we KNEW upfront that Byrnes Media was going to shift the formats around(into what, exactly, we didn't know until Wednesday(3/1)).

With 96.1 , who knows what's going to happen? Or, more to the point, IF something's going to happen?

Agreed. An anonymous post on a message board with nothing to back it up.

And for you armchair programming geniuses - what would YOU have done to WJYE to bring its aging demos down?

Here's what I WOULDN'T have done: Trying to match Star 102.5 at its own game. Mix 96 is failing at it BADLY; they do not know what they want to be, moment to moment.

WHTT and WGRF are working diligently to stay contemporary, each station playing more 80s product than ever. As noted earlier in this thread, why would 96.1 want to get in that fray? Had WHTT stayed the course years ago when it evolved to Mix 104, it might now be better poised to attract a younger demo. As to a change at 96.1, a more logical guess might point to a line-up change or new morning host.

The mid 80s were over 30 years ago. How is 80s music "more contemporary"? It's just less old than the 60s and 70s. Some 80s music sounds more dated than earlier eras.
Hair Bands are a joke. The great 80s Alternative bands are virtually ignored by Radio.

If certain formats can't attract the precious younger Demos, then too bad. A restaurant without patrons goes out of business...

If any of you geniuses had bothered to tune in the station, you would have heard the promotional announcements for a new morning show starting March 12th.

Rusty: Aim your ire at the OP. Not the rest of us.

AND, for what it's worth, the bios for the morning show hosts are already up on Mix's website. What helps is that they both have roots in Buffalo(Dave more so, but Melody's been here for years too). From what I caught of the show this morning, I think they'll fit in fine.
