CBS 5 This Morning

KPHO is trying a new name (CBS 5 This Morning), same people. However, it seems that they are pairing Yetta and Heidi, while Preston does headlines and 5 Things You Need to Know This Morning. The newscast is ok (not great, not terrible), but why waste the time an effort when they could just simulcast GMAZ on 5?

Taking a quick look around the country, it seems like a number of CBS stations have branded their morning news as CBS X This Morning (the exceptions I found were the O&O stations).

Watched CBS 5 This Morning for about an hour. Concise, getting right into business, but they seem friendly with each other. I normally watch GMAZ and they act like they are friends off camera.

Makes sense. Trying to get the rub from the national network. Just like EVB = 30 Rock

More choice perhaps?????

Choice is always good. There probably are people who don't like GMAZ format and instead of sending viewers to another station, keep them in the family with a different format. Not sure if the costs outweighs choice.

Despite its seeming redundancy with GMAZ, I do watch CBS 5 This Morning because of their "tune in at 6:50 and get all the local news/weather/traffic you need". Then, I watch "CBS This Morning", which the newsiest and informative of the am network shows.

I wish we knew what the ratings have been...that would help the cost discussion.

Saw a commercial where the CBS 5 crew were in New York visiting the set of CBS This Morning. Combo interview with all 7 personalities. I like when local hangs out with national.
