I think KMOX's 11 AM telecast of One Day At A Time was same day as was the pattern of other CBS O&Os. They'd air it at 12 Eastern/11 Central then send it to the affiliates that chose to air it at 4 ET/3 CT. (WCBS in New York previously aired the 4 PM shows at 1 PM, same day.)

Ok, I knew it was the practice of CBS O&Os back then, but wasn't sure if it was the same day feed.

I can't be sure, but I think at this point, the CBS O&Os (with the exception of WCBS) were airing the 4/3PM show on a one-day delay during the midday 30-minute access slot (12/11C). It's been said that WCBS did a same-day showing because the station had access to the tape, as the station's master control was shared with the network. It's been my understanding for some time now that "Sunrise Semester" was fed down the network to stations during the midday access slot. The CBS affiliates that carried the show would tape it and air it early in the morning. You may have noticed that some affiliates had different start times for "Semester" other than the network-recommended 6:30 AM. Some stations would run it at 6AM, or maybe 6:20 or 5:55, etc. It was pretty obvious affiliates had their own copy of the show in order to necessitate these start times.

I believe CBS did offer a same-day feed of the 4/3PM show in the midday access slot starting in 1982, after "Sunrise Semester" was canceled to make room for "The CBS Early Morning News."

During the period from February 4, 1980-June 5, 1981, when CBS had moved the affiliate access slot to 12/11C, many stations kept their local news at 12 in the Central time zone, airing Young and the Restless on a one day delay from 11-12. I have read posts that CBS offered a feed of the Young and the Restless in the overnight hours for stations to record so that the show wouldn't be a day behind. In these listings, KMOV is airing Y&R from 12-1pm which was the network time for it during this period. It wasn't until June 8, 1981, CBS began offering the two feeds of the show at 12/11C or 12:30/11:30C. It's interesting that none of the CBS O&Os aired local news in the access time until Press Your Luck was cancelled in 1986 and the 4/3C slot was given back to CBS stations.

The split feed of Y&R did not occur until some time in 1982. It happened the Monday after Jill Foster and John Abbott got married. My local affiliate, which had been running Y&R on a one-day delay at 11AM, aired the Friday episode w/the wedding at 10AM on that Monday, followed by the Monday episode on the new 11AM feed.

Wow, I'm impressed with your memory on that!!! I knew June 8, 1981 is when CBS shifted the schedule bringing Y&R up to 12:30/11:30C, As the World Turns at 1:30/12:30C, Search for Tomorrow (moving from 12:30/11:30C) to 2:30/1:30C, and Guiding Light remaining at 3/2C. I always assumed the split feed happened on that day, but you're saying they still had to tape delay the show until 1982. The split feed was a smart idea.

NBC could have done that with Card Sharks or The Doctors-noon and 12:30. That way WYFF/4 could have done local news followed by Card Sharks.

Surprised KPLR didn't air a movie in prime time. 9:30 news must've been nice to have. That INN news product was fairly new at this time, but it endured for almost a decade after this. I'm sure I was watching 'Little House' this night.

A split feed could have worked for The Doctors too on NBC- the noon hour would often see affiliates of the three major networks opt not to air their offerings for at least part of, if not all of, the timeslot and usually air a local newscast or some other programming, and The Doctors disappeared from some markets when it made the move. If a split feed had been used, then maybe, The Doctors doesn't disappear from some markets when it made the move.

Are you referring to the brief time in 1982 when NBC bumped up The Doctors to Noon ET when Search for Tomorrow moved to NBC at 12:30?
