I'm pretty sure someone who finishes in 7th place on Idol would not claim to have her career started by them. She could just as well have been sitting in a drug store.
Yet she does. In interview after interview, she credits Idol for getting her noticed. If you look at her resume, her career began with Idol. Once again, being on a top-rated TV show with 14 million viewers (it was closer to 30 million when she was a contestant) is very different "sitting in a drug store."
Here's a quote from my link:
"In May 2010, the Los Angeles Times claimed Hudson to be the third greatest Idol contestant in the history of the show, placing behind season one winner Kelly Clarkson and season four winner Carrie Underwood."
And yet you say the show only produced one star.
