Chris Plante to appear on WABC-AM

https://www.allaccess.com/net-news/...cial-wabc-new-york-adds-the-chris-plante-show

CUMULUS News-Talk WABC-A/NEW YORK has made it official and added WESTWOOD ONE’s “THE CHRIS PLANTE SHOW” for 10a-noon (ET) starting MONDAY (3/2). The expected addition of PLANTE’s show, based at sister News-Talk WMAL-A-F/WASHINGTON, will fill the gap left by the move of BERNARD MCGUIRK and SID ROSENBERG’s “THE BERNIE AND SID SHOW” to mornings on the same day, replacing “IMUS IN THE MORNING.”

Bernie and Sid has moved to the mornings spot and Plante is best known for his show at WMAL in Washington D.C.

Fake news! The show beings on WABC on 4/2, not 3/2. And "fill the gap" is a very poor choice of words - Plante's show will be the best thing on the station!

It does take away a two hour slot that had been local and switches to a nationally syndicated show. So WABC on weekdays is running Westwood One shows 14 hours a day, local shows 10 hours a day. The national shows are...

10am-12pm Chris Plante
3pm-5pm Michael Savage
6pm-9pm Mark Levin
9pm-1am John Batchelor
1am-5am Red Eye Radio

However, it doesn't run any Westwood One shows on weekends, because it has nearly non-stop infomercials all weekend, even overnight. There is a 90 minute religious show featuring a priest and a rabbi on Sunday mornings, but that's it. Everything else is paid programming. WABC even eliminated Larry Kudlow's Westwood One Saturday show months before he took the White House job.

Considering that this is a station that gets a 1 share, it likely doesn't have a budget for much more local programming. It services the corporate agenda more by running national programming than by the revenue it contributes. And those infomercials might contribute more to the bottom line than the daily shows.
