Grizzlies baseball now on AM 1680

AM 1680 "The Answer" will be the flagship station for the Fresno Grizzlies this summer in a deal that somehow could not be finalized until after the first game of the season.

This move leaves many unanswered questions, such as is it appropriate to call the station "flagship" when it is the only one? Why do "networks" with one "affiliate" pause 10 seconds for stations to identify themselves? (actually talking about the Padres now) Why doesn't Ted Leitner just say "this is KSON, San Diego, home of my Padres?"

Also, did I use the word leaves correctly?

Yes, you did.

It does seem odd for a team with no network to have a network break at the top of the hour, but Sirius XM usually inserts one of its own noisy, overproduced IDs in that slot during Padres games, so maybe that's who KSON is taking the break for. No idea why the Fresno club would be taking the break instead of having its own play-by-play man live-read the ID, nor why either KSON or whatever call letters "AM 1680 The Answer" refers to would refer to itself as a flagship, other than to make themselves sound more important.

I am getting really tired of non-sports station airing baseball games! We have how many sports stations already that can air them on their station??? It's maddening to me to listen to a talk show and then suddenly it gets preempted for a game!

No, the Grizzlies don't to the pause for station Id thing, that was just a padres thing. Being played on Sirius explains it.

As for Sports on non sport stations, we have 3 sports stations currently. The Giants, A's, Dodgers and Grizzlies all play at the same time. One of them has to land on a non-sport station.

Of course! I knew there was good reason behind it!

I do feel for you. I'm happy the games aren't on KYNO anymore cause sometimes I would rather listen to the music, and I really like baseball!

If it were something I couldn't stand (like the LA Lakers) preempting Armstrong and Getty, I'd be pretty pissed.

Grizzlies game right on time!.........At the start of the Laura Ingraham Show. TERRIFIC!!!!!!!

They have a good signal into Los Angeles at times.... I have listened to a couple inning several nights in April... Also get the Fresno State games at dusk on ESPN also....

I wonder if boombox4 can hear 1680?

Hi. We have a local here in the Seattle area on 1680, KNTS. But if I null it out, sometimes I hear the Fresno station when conditions to California are good. I have heard your 1680 station probably 3-4 times. One time (about three years ago) it was blasting away in the local station's null. Obviously, there were good nighttime conditions then.
