Incoming: Searchlight Television

Ever heard of Fox Searchlight Pictures? Well, now there's gonna be Searchlight Television, and they plan to make original programming. Here's my idea: Why not give at least some of that programming to My Network TV (since the two have common ownership)?

My Network TV in Phoenix seems to have turned into a CNN-type news channel.

Yeah - KRON 4 in San Francisco, as well. Not 24 hour news, but big blocks of news during the day and prime time. Even when they were My Network TV, they were billed as "the Bay Area's News Station" since losing their NBC affiliation about 15 years ago.

Combining "Searchlight" with My Network doesn't make much sense because "Fox Searchlight" pictures has been known for daring push-the-envelope independent films, not unlike Miramax. They would not want the added content restrictions of broadcast TV. Now that basic cable pushes the limits these days, and is not beholden to the FCC, I'm sure that iw what Fox wants with this.

Umm? My take here is that Hulu would get the Searchlight Television shows if My Network does not get it. But Searchlight Pictures is going to Disney in the proposals in the Disney/Fox Deal. If Disney takes full control of Searchlight the programming would go to Hulu or ABC if Disney gets Searchlight pictures.
