WXLM 980 will be 99 watts on 101.9 from their AM site in Groton.

So who is left with no translator apps?

WTIC 1080.
WAVZ 1300.
WGCH 1490.
WPRX 1120.

Other that are still in the process.

WPOP 1410 will be on 100.9 from the WUCS 97.9 tower in Hartford.

WCTF 1170 will be on 92.1 from their AM stick.

What's the point of even having AM anymore? FM skip reception will be impossible if these all come on the air.

Other than WTIC's sports and talk programming, nothing of much interest remains on local AM for me, anyway. I listen to WFAN and WCBS occasionally, so that's three AM signals I still listen to.

As for FM skip, that's purely a hobbyist concern, and the FCC isn't going to change policy to satisfy hobbyists. Me, I will welcome old-school full-service station WATR warmly to my FM dial. I wonder if the right-wing talk format will continue on both WMMW and WWCO, both of which should cover Meriden well, or if one will be flipped to some sort of music format to fully take advantage of being on FM.

How long do u think it will be before all of these actually come on the air?

If I were to guess some probably will come on this summer. Others by the end of 2018. And the rest probably in the beginning of 2019. The only one I wonder about is the one for WPOP on 100.9 - they have had their CP issued in 2017 and it's still not on the air yet.

And one more station I forgot that won't have a translator is WADS 690 the Spanish Religious station licensed to Ansonia.

I know the hobbyists hate translators and I understand it but Translators are the best thing that has happen to FM in the past few years. In Connecticut, the AM reception is horrible. We are filled with weak 1,000 watt towers that are lucky to stretch 10 miles. I'm 5 miles from 980 WXLM and even with higher end radios, it is still directional. I've always said 1310 WICH needs a translator. AM reception is just horrible and filled with interference and static. You'd think i'd get 1080 WTIC well since it's 50k watts but nope. A huge translator success for me was 1180 WSKP to 104.3 in Hope Valley RI. I went from barely getting 1180 and sounds horrible to getting medium strength 104.3. Sure there's still static when driving around town but at least it's an enjoyable signal.

Would we ever see a day where 1080 gets a full time full power FM simulcast? Would Entercom want to sacrifice another FM station to do this?

Unless they find the elusive news/talk formula that will attract advertiser-desirable listeners, flipping a music format would make very little sense.

Entercom should buy 106.9 from K-LOVE. Let that become the 1080 simulcast.

EMF doesn't often -- if at all -- sell the stations it's bought. Why should it? Once EMF takes over, they become cash machines and have only the power bills and transmitter maintenance for expenses since they originate no local programming. And everything they rake in is tax-free! What a country! What a racket! If you were EMF, would YOU sell a powerhouse signal like that that you paid a bundle for only a couple of years ago? At any price?
