Do you think amp Radio come back to nyc? Yes or no

No way. Entercom seems committed to the Alt format. I don't see 92.3 or any of the other Entercom stations changing formats anytime soon. And if they did, it would probably be to simulcast WCBS and/or WINS, with maybe the off chance of a hip-hop gold format depending on how it continues to perform elsewhere. Even if by some chance they did try a second CHR again, it would likely be under a new name.

The audience for All News, like News/Talk, is slowly sliding into the abyss, just not as fast.

Maybe, but it's a long way from the basement that News/Talk is in, and FM simulcasts could certainly help slow that descent. I personally don't want to see music formats displaced for news, but I'm not your typical younger listener who doesn't even know what AM is.

Maybe. In Chicago, WBBM is #2 6+ with an FM simulcast, but most of that audience is over 54. So an FM simulcast doesn't seem to help demos for news. But obviously that's a decision Entercom will have to make at some point, and the bigger question is which of the two newsers gets the simulcast?

But WBBM is #1 in sales in Chicago, with about 30% higher billing than the #2 station.

I could see a throwback hip hop station doing well, as someone mentioned, or amp coming back, if alt does not perform well enough.

Those tend to have a short shelf life.

As we've discussed, Alt does better when it adds established alt hits and artists. But the change usually doesn't appeal to musical purists.

Which is fine, because appealing to purists usually drives off more potential listeners than it attracts. This is even the case on classical radio. The most successful stations stick to the most familiar composers and their most familiar works, along with short pieces like Pachelbel's Canon in D that have entered mainstream consciousness. Play lesser-known works by the superstars or by unfamiliar (including all contemporary) composers and you kill any semblance of mass appeal your station may have had.
