Wow as I have been home I have been listening all morning to John Lee Walker I love the music is sure is a refreshing change Station sounds so clear and the classic rock is a great mix of songs !! Glad to have another choice in Fresno Kudos John Lee your station is a winner!
 
Self promotion Verne?

I have a good amount of respect for John - he did some good things at K104. But one quick look at the website and the grammar and spelling errors, oh, and what’s with Athena graphic? Geez, it all screams Firebaugh.
 
Well not good in Clovis anymore I get a equal mix of jumbled mess from KIOO and KKDJ, I did get KKDJ better a couple of weeks ago, but not now, they must of changed the direction of there loop ant. on top of The Drum Store, now, according to the station's license it should be at 105 FT but it looks like its much lower, if they put up the right tower it mite work better, don't ya think.

According to the fcc website Kioo coverage ends in Selma they must be running more than their authorized limit why else would it bleed into Fresno and Madera

The 60 dbu ends right at the Fresno County southern border. But signals don't just disappear after that... they just get weaker. So it is quite likely that KIOO can be heard in a good portion of central and southern Fresno County on decent radios, particularly in cars.

Also not only that, the FCC filed maps are based on the HAAT of the antenna, not the actual height above the Valley floor which is much higher, so the 60 dbu is actually closer to Fresno, a Longley-Rice map would show that.

Listening tonight, there's Verne talking over every intro and covering the Stones for a good 30 seconds. This is not 1960's KYA Top 40, it's supposedly Classic Rock. Note to Verne - Can the ego. Play music.
 
When I'm at home in my house with my yamaha with crossbar Ant 25 ft 99.7 changes between KIOO And KKDJ it will be KKDJ one night or KIOO another, but in my vehicle parked at home it's KKDJ/KYAF, I guess I could A/B Switch my home stereo and put up Rabbit Ears in the house, that might help lmfao, I might do that tomorrow, no seriously it might help out other stations as well.Tropo conditions can be like "Video Killed the radio star" by "The Buggles" mtv's first video and played on KKDJ when they started Dec 8 1979.

It's a hobby station and nothing more. Why John Lee Walker is doing this morning thing - I don't know why when you've been so high up in the food chain do you now want to dwell at the bottom of the tank.

Even Uncle Joe's show is so sanitized under syndication that it's hard to listen to.

Not trying to be mean here. Just my take on what's nothing more than another of the wannabe, once was call letter, rekindled stations that are associated with White and Co. Time to move on.

WowI cannot believe how you guys put down the great work at Kkdj. John Lee Walker who I listened to years ago is fantastic and the Uncle Joe show which I have been listening to which by the way on his website is the #1 classic rock show in many other areas including Los Angeles where is comes from!!
Now this morning Kkdj owner John Lee Walker announced their the official station for the grizzlies I love Fresno games . If you listen to the station they are getting call after call they are airing where people are saying they’ve love the music . I don’t understand why you guys continue to put this station down just my observation but everything I hear on their station is clearly better the porter vile station or the other Fresno station !! My suggestion is to go out and meet with John Lee Walker since he’s the boss and the one programming the station and give him you’re ideas he is a really nice guy and I’m sure he would like to hear your ideas.

Verne or whomever you are within White & CO - let it go. People have opinions. I like John - he's an ok guy from what I remember from talking with him years ago. He has little to work with - that's fact. Uncle Joe is one of the last great talents, but he's confined by a tight playlist. Uncle Joe is not the same as he was on The Sound (a great loss in FM radio) because of the limits of syndication.

Don't take everything so personal.... KYAF is what it is, until such time Gary throws a ton of dollars and they move up in Class (as in station). In the meantime, Rock & Roll Deli remotes on KFUN and KKDJ that you use to talk over every split second of every intro - in mid-song guitar rifts - whatever - this isn't KYA, that's another of your hobby stations. Dude - let it go.

Gotta' get your facts straight. The show is not #1 in LA because it ended in the LA market when The Sound was sold to EMF.

And I know that Porterville is perhaps not the absolutely most exciting town in CA, but do you have to call it "porter vile"?

I know! I remember how excited you were on the other thread, when the games were on 1680!

I must admit, I've kinda enjoyed Vern talking up the records. At least it's something different and I am happy I can take a radio to the ballpark again to hear the games. My KA321 gets the job done when nothing else not even my cars can.

Well let me be clear I have no affiliation with the station in any way just a retired engineer and a radio buff. I have been to the station talked with Mr Walker great guy I have been a long time fan of his . I ask about ownership although he tells me he first contacted Mr Cocola he was interviews by both Mr Cocola and Mr White and hired as their general manager and morning air personality . He told me that he has free reign there to grow the station. As for a hobby station I asked Mr Walker and he said no that Mr White was putting a lot of money into this venture. Mr Walker also let me know after I ask him who has the station that Mr White and his Corporation is the sole owner however he and Mr Cocola are life long friends. According to Mr Walker both Mr Cocola and Mr White have a lot of money and although Mr Cocola is involved it’s Mr White who is funding the station and he is very financially stable.
I am so happy to have John Lee Walker on in the morning and the music is great!! So much better than that Porterville ? Hooterville station.
