6-6-18 Good FM E-Skip Logged

I was flipping through the FM radio today (6-6-18) in the car and noticed some different music popping up. It was a rather cool day in SWPA, but I did log a few stations & a few I did not.

(6-6-18) I am about 10 miles southeast of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania..........
Around 1230PM today......
105.1FM WHQT Hot 105-Coral Gables,Florida
104.1FM WTKS Cocoa Beach/Orlando,Florida
106.3FM-Some island music as I call it but did not get an ID.

Around 345PM today......
105.1FM KEAN-FM Abilene, Texas
98.1FM KTLT Sports Radio "The Ticket"- Anson,Texas
103.7FM KCDD Power 103-Hamlin,Texas

That is the first time for me logging those stations, and really didn't expect it today. Did anyone else have any openings on the FM dial today they were able to log???

Puerto Rico? Jamaica? Aruba? Martinique? Long Island?

Puerto Rico would not have "Island Music" such as reggae, socca, dancehall and the like; that would be one of the English or French speaking Islands.

They don't even play steelband in the tourist hotels in the Condado and Isla Verde areas of San Juan any more!

I've been parked on 99.9 since semi-local WCPQ is off the air and besides the "normal" reception of WQLQ and WJVL got a brief reception of WRJL from Eva, Alabama. Enough to get a full ID. That was around 8 pm local time.

In Manistee, MI, I had four hours of weak E-skip, mostly to Louisiana and Texas, with a couple of Mississippi stations (and at least two from peninsular Florida). I could have gotten more, but there was also rampant tropo around the dial (mostly 100-150 miles out)

Mid-day yesterday (6/7), I was able to pick up 97.7 KTPI Mojave, CA, and 98.1 KKJG San Luis Obispo, CA - adjacent to a 100,000 watt powerhouse station (97.9 KUPD) whose tower is 16 air miles away from my location.

Both of those are amazingly short for e-skip. KTPI is 380 miles from Phoenix!! KKJG is about 520. I'm supposing the skip cloud briefly gave you short CA reception because the rest of the time it was well into the ocean. A calculated MUF (maximum usable frequency) for 97.7 mhz at 380 miles would likely be in the 200 mHz range, if not higher. Too bad sharks and squid don't know amateur radio - because 2-meters (144 mhz) would be full of water...
My closest Es log were two stations in Jackson, WY (KJAX-93.5 and KZJH-95.3) both at 526 miles, and logged 7/2/2015. Same night I also had KDLY 97.5 from Lander (640 mi) and earlier that evening several new CA stations including 92.7 KTOM in Monterey. Congrats Eric on the short skip!

I have a good feeling that KUPD is not running full power. They've had several problems with their Harris HD tube transmitter since they installed it in 2007, and they haven't been running HD for about a month. Their signal strength doesn't seem as strong as the other 100,000 watt stations on South Mountain, either.

Normally, the tropo I get this time of year is from Texas, Arkansas, and Louisiana. Surprising I got Southern California on adjacencies of a Class C FM.
