'Jerry Springer' Moving to The CW This Fall

https://www.broadcastingcable.com/news/jerry-springer-moving-to-the-cw-this-fall

Jerry Springer now has a contract for CW affiliates this fall.

NBCUniversal’s long-running conflict talker The Jerry Springer Show has gone out of production, a source close to the show confirmed Wednesday.

Starting next fall, pre-produced and encore episodes of the show will air on The CW as well as in broadcast syndication, although it’s unlikely the show’s syndicated clearances will remain the same as they are now.

The deal for Springer on The CW is for multiple years and the network could opt to order more original episodes. Should that happen, the show would go back into production in Connecticut where it shares a home with sibling shows Maury and The Steve Wilkos Show. Both of those shows have been renewed for two more years and will remain in syndication, according to sources.

The CW airs an afternoon block of shows, which is currently composed of The Robert Irvine Show, which was produced by Tribune but went out of production earlier this year, and Steve Wilkos. Springer will take over Irvine's slot on the network.

The so-called conflict talkers – Maury, Jerry and Wilkos – air predominantly in blocks on the Tribune-owned stations in major markets. Tribune is in the process of being acquired by Sinclair Broadcast Group, although the merger hasn’t closed yet.

so no change in Minneapolis where Springer, Maury and Steve are on WUCW which is.....a CW station :)

also its already on for 2 hours on CW+ affiliates

The CW Picks Up 28 Seasons Of Jerry Springer!

Broadcasting And Cable reports the CW Network is replacing the recently cancelled Robert Irvine Show with selected episodes from the past 28 Seasons of The Jerry Springer Show, which just recenty wrapped up productions of new episodes. Springer is scaling back his work load, focusing on the co-executive work on The Steve Wikos Show, but will reportedly produce a handful of "best-of specials" for the CW in the coming seasons. And since the deal is for "several seasons", it looks as if the CW has abandoned plans for anything new in daytime!

Jerry Springer moving to CW7 been on WXSP for many years I thought that one of trashy talk shows was ending. I think this will be Murry's last contract and you aren't the baby daddy which he has said million times for the past couple of decades.

No Change it Hartford. A couple years ago FOX 61 shipped Jerry Springer and Maury and Steve over to their in-market sister station WCCT-TV 20, the CW affiliate. I don't know what Tribune has planned for the fall, but maybe with the 12 Noon slot open they can end the one day delay airing of The Doctors, which WCCT-TV currently airs at 4AM.

Speaking of changes, I wish NEXSTAR would stop wasting 12 1/2 hours a week on MY TV 9 WCTX. For 2 1/2 hours a day, 5 days a week WCTX simulcasts the news from in-market sister station WTNH. They simulcast the morning news Good Morning Connecticut 5AM-7AM and they simulcast "News 8 at 11" 11PM-11:35PM. (After a separate Newscast 10PM-11PM). NEXSTAR must be charging advertisers double because the ads are the same on both stations during the simulcasts.

Not to be unnecessarily didactic...though I guess I am now going to be - the headline of this thread makes it sound like the CW has renewed Springer for 28 more seasons. Now that's having trust in a host's star power. In 28 years, Jerry will be a spry 102.

Will they revive Restaurant Impossible for Robert Irvine?

It's still bad that we have to put up with Springer's garbage, but I at least hope this puts him on fewer stations.

That's what is so great about living in a 300+ channel world...and that's not counting streaming on the internet. In all these years, I think I've watched Springer's show twice for about 10 minutes each time. Had a couple of laughs at the ridiculous, and clearly staged antics of his "guests" - then moved on. His show can last for 100 more years, and it will make absolutely no difference to me.

If you don't like it, don't watch it.

For the last 10-15 years or so, I wasn't even sure if he was doing new episodes, or even if he was still on in the Bay Area. Nothing to 'put up with' from a guy whose profile had gotten so low.

You never had to put up with him, save for perhaps being in the auto repair waiting room and they had it on. You have choices, and realistically didn't have to make that one of them.

In the Jackson, Miss. market, Springer & Wilkos air on WLOO MY 35 (Tugaloo College license) and Maury on WDBD Fox 40 (American Spirit). Both stations are operated by Raycom which has the license for NBC affiliate WLBT Ch. 3 through a LAN agreement. Interesting that CBS affiliate WJTV 12 is licensed by Nexstar & has the CW as a sub channel 12.2 over the air & is 13 on Directv.

I'd rather watch news than more trash talk, courtroom shows, or infomercials.

I've never watched Springer, Maury, or Wilkos for more than few minutes when I had the choice, other than to do like LKeller said to laugh at their stupidity and move on, usually after a few seconds. But I hate the sorry state that local daytime TV is in now because of garbage like his show, courtroom shows, and infomercials. And I usually end up on cable or online if I have time off during the day.

I don't watch nor care for Springer and the ilk (and I'm at work while he's on locally at Noon).

But is it just the CW O&O's that Springer is moving to with this new deal on the reruns?

For years in my market (Springfield/Decatur/Champaign) Springer has aired on local Fox station WRSP-55.1 Springfield (with repeater on WCCU-27.1 Champaign).

Our local CW station is WBUI-23.1 Decatur--which is owned by a duopoly with GOCOM media, who owns WRSP/WCCU (which in turn has the JSA with Sinclair-owned ABCs WICS-20.1 Springfield/WICD-15.1 Champaign).

Will Springer be moving to all CW affiliates only next fall, or just the O&O's and CW-100+ stations/subchannels (meaning nothing might change in this market)?

Currently, while Springer airs on WRSP/WCCU at noon, WBUI carries the hour-long "Crime Watch Daily" at noon.

If Springer is only going to be on CW regardless of station ownership, I can see Crime Watch and Springer simply changing channels between WBUI and WRSP while both shows remain on at Noon.

per the article it is replacing Robert Irvine show
Springer will take over Irvine's slot on the network.

also in the article there will be two different shows. One that airs exclusively on CW and one for syndication
