Tejano is Back on 107.9 KQQK Sundays from 12 to 2 with EL MUÑECO.
I’m pretty sure the guys on PURO TEJANO 101.7 and 1540 aren’t happy about that.

1540 am has a translator on 101.7 FM covering parts of Pasadena and south eastern areas. The Astros are usually on La Ranchera during that time on Sunday afternoons, so I don't think they are affected.

Dead carrier on both stations. Is the experiment over?1540 am has a translator on 101.7 FM covering parts of Pasadena and south eastern areas.
Can you pull in 1540AM on the eastside of Houston at night? My projections show you should be able to pull it in all the way to Winnie during nighttime operations.
Happened to catch this liner while tuning across Puro Tejano 101.7:
“While others are playing just two hours of Tejano, we’re playing Tejano 24/7.”
The issue here is not signal strength alone... it is the interference free contour. It appears that between the other stations on 1540, such as KXEL and CHIN, the minimum usable signal area is going to be around 10 mV/m. At 250 watts at night, that is pretty much limited to Galveston and the waterfront populations nearby.
I was kind of hoping I could pull it in whilst driving between Winnie and Mont Belvieu. Oh well...
What's even more interesting is that after calling attention to it, 1540 AM is now playing oldies at the same time KQQK is supposed to be playing Tejano. Don't know if it's a format flip or a show, but advertising a competitor is mighty stupid with all things considered.
Interesting that they call the attention of all their listeners to something they probably would not have discovered on their own.
